I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'll try anyway. I've had my Raven in a drawer for about three years now because I never used it for more than vanishing a coin. I'm just wondering if people use it in the middle of, say, a coin routine, or if you use it as a kicker to a routine. I have always been under the assumption that you had to be "set up" prior to doing the effect and that you basically had to walk right into the vanish. In other words, do people do the "set up" in the midst of doing another routine. I'm definatley interested in using this rather costly item if there are other uses for it.
Thanks everyone! |

If you practice hooking up with one hand there is no reason you can setup in the middle of a routine.

You can also use it to vanish things like keys, rings, etc. It doesn't have to be limited to a coin routine. The Bat is also a nice way to vanish items like that.

I use it in the middle of certain routines. I'll do the classic Raven quarter vanish off a specs hand, then I'll do a Raven quarter penetration through a table, then, after doing the Slam quarter fuse, I'll use my Raven to separate the fused quarters. All fits together nicely if all the coins are magnetic. I use a Raven X2, but I assume it shouldn't be too much harder to do this mini routine with a regular Raven.

You can use the raven any time. The raven you can do almost any thing your mind can come up with.

I believe that Jordini, whose a member here, uses Raven to vanish dollar bills and other objects that are not normally attracted to Raven.
If you think about it a while you should be able to come up with some ideas. |

Exactly, I use it for bill vanishes as well. I think a lot of people here on the Café are too critical of the Raven sometimes. I also think people that don't get the Raven dvd miss out on a lot of handling subtleties and effect possibilities.

One of my concerns is getting the item back after vanishing it. It seems like it would be difficult to get the item back until after the performance is over.

That is the nature of the Raven and many other total vanishes. I just give them a replacement bill from my own pocket.

Good idea. I'll obviously just have to work around it.
