I love the intro of the video....

I would suggest tighting up some of the clips..... For example. the bottle vanishing,,, tighten up the clip where they do not see you walking back towards your table.......

After the intro of the voice do you have a nice cool clean clip???? Myabe lots of smoke or fade it into a style image shot ......

But a great start....

Sam,

I'm not sure what message you're trying to share with us about your product.

But I do know I saw a high energy, fun performance that I would consider if I was an event planner. That's pretty rare that I see a performers personality really come through in a video. Looks like you really love what you do!

As Curtis suggests - tighten up the video, and make a very clear message for who you are marketing to and what exactly you're selling.

Now listen. I do not suffer fools gladly. I am very impressed by the whole thing. A few (very few ) things need sorting, but you definately have the hunger and the intellegence to realise what they are whithout being told. Very impressive. Very impressive indeed. Keep up the good work. If that is your first attempt I look forward to your next. Rare young talent. Carry on as you were, and don't let all the unsucsessfull hopefulls that post unrealistic, unachievable veiws on here spoil it for you. The next thing you should purchase is a large amount of salt. Take a pinch now and then with every comment you get. Keep on keepin on and we'll see a lot of you in the future. 10/10

Sam -

A quick tip:

If you have a parent or friend doing the video taping, try altering the angle from which they shoot on the various performances. You said that you have 8 more coming up, so place the camera dead center at one show, stage right at another, stage left at the 3rd, maybe even from behind or at the sides at another. Provided your backdrop/background is the same, you can then edit together the different POVs of the same trick to make it more like what you see on tv. You are creating the illusion of a multiple camera setup! This will NOT work for tricks involving a volunteer. Smile

Christopher idea is great...

This will also create a nice look for your video as well.... You can flash it quickly showing different performance......

I WILL add one small thing:
That it would serve you well to remember "what the purpose of the video in the first place"? WHO, ultimately, will be looking at the video? Are you offering what it is THEY want need and desire based on thie perspective?

Just a thought and question for you to ponder…

I would like to suggest something not directly related to the video but I did notice in it and on your site. First of all I know times are different than the used to be and you are young and "modern". I am still young myself. Late 20's but I still think its young . Anyway my point I was getting to is the "modern" style of dress. Being a part of the times is great and I am all for it. But I think it would help to dress it up a bit. T-shirts with sport coats are in and I love it and wear them myself , not on stage ,though it works for some. I just mean little things. For example on the video your dress was fine but I would tuck in the shirt. Maybe its just me but I have these thing that's bothers me to see some one dress shirt hang out of the bottom of thier coat. I am in no way putting anything you do or your video down. It is nice especially for your age etc. I just suggest tightening up the look abit. But as you grow older I am sure this will happen naturally. Being modern is fine but I still believe the old advice about the performer should be the best dressed person in the room. It is a perception thing from the point of view of the audience. People do notice. Anyhow I hope I didn't come across the wrong way. Keep up the good work.
THOUGHTfully,
London
Oh by the way. Who is the gentlemen in the vest helping you in the last clip. He looks like Andy Dallas.

Nice video. I've watched it a couple of times now, with a few days in between to see if I might change my opinion about something.

I would comment that I don't feel the wording in the introduction is consistent with the message of the video, and who you are as a performer.

Quote:
Sam's video introduction:
"Once in a lifetime, a great entertainer comes along who you will never forget"

The script implies some great newcomer to rival David Copperfield or Siegfried and Roy (ala flashy vegas illusions and costumes, etc.), but your performance style is not that. It's more David Ginn or Duane Laflin. Don't be afraid to let your selling style and wording reflect who you are. You are a funny, warm, personable performer who engages and interacts with the audience, and it shows through on your video.

The shot of the kid reacting to his shoe (Wiz-kote) is awesome footage. That is probably one of the key reasons a person might book you after watching the video.

Also, remember that you are not selling that you are an unforgettable act (or that you are great), you are selling them on the fact that you can help make their event fun or unforgettable or whatever (you can help them get their outcome). An important distinction that you want to convey in all your advertising, video or website or in print.

This last point is just the start of the stuff that Dean hinted at, in the question he asked. Go back and re-read his post again, ponder on it for a while.
