D'oh! Should have thought of that...but yeah, it's worth a try anyway.
Actually, I have just tried it - I didn't find it too difficult, provided I gripped the bottle firmly - but hey ho, just tossing a few ideas around |

Hi there everyone!!
I'm new to the forums here and have been searching around for ideas/effects like this one. I think all your suggestions are great additions to the effect. I also think forcing a card, looking around for something to write on and grabbing the soda bottle to make your prediction and magically revel it. This would look like any ordinary prediction - but wait - do one better and force the prediction to penatrate through the plastic bottle and give it out as a souvenir. Sound like a cool routine. I think I may have to buy this effect now that I'm getting a little excited about performing it. |

I've been using it for a while now and it's pretty simple to leave a telephone number or website address. It WILL seem odd at first but after you have made up a batch ready for the week, you will really get the hang of it.
I put a piece of paper around a bottle and practiced that way at first. Got it looking good pretty quickly. If it looks a little shaky, that's actually a good thing, as you don't want it to look 'printed' or artificial. It should look like you just quickly wrote it on the label. Ben tells me that he rests his elbow on his knee as he writes and that really helps. Hope this helps Best wishes and good luck with your magic! Also Labelled does not need to stop at just a Label. The technique can be used for other items inside a sealed full bottle too.
Ben also uses the Labelled technique for his coin in bottle effect. That way he does the coin in bottle with a FULL sealed bottle. ( I hate him! )

My review is as follows...
Name: Labelled Type: Download (very good, received right when purchased) Price: Almost 25$...a little pricey but worth it Set Up: It does have a bit of set up and I havent done it yet, but I think that its nothing that will take too many tries and should be definitely worth it. 4/10 Wow Factor: Well when I saw it I was amazed and I can only assume that it will be the same to specs. 10/10 Overall very pleased with the purchase and think it was worth the money! |

Thanks Baskitboy5,
I hope you enjoy performing it, just do it casualy, like you weren't even going to do a trick, you were just going to take a drink then hit them with it! Cheers, Ben |

I think this would be very strong, especially since you can give the bottle out at the end of the effect

I've tried this effect a couple of times and it's well worth the time spent setting up. And it does get quicker once you've done it a few times. Did it on a friend at work and he keeps bugging me to teach him how I did it, but I'm not giving in. It really kills when you show them the bottle is sealed. Great work Ben.

Just purchased this effect and watched it...the effect as everyone can see is clearly commercial, but I was disappointed at how gimmicky it is. I don't mind the set-up, but not being able to pick up the bottle in front of the spectator bothers me...I also feel that the vanish sequence is too gimmicky.
I bought this because I thought it would be practical after the set up...and for that I am disappointed...this is the type of effect you'd do for those VERY special occasions because so much has to be done before hand and during the actual performance. I'm trying to remain vague, so excuse if my comments don't make much sense. Regardless, I will give this effect it's fair shot...I'm visiting a friend at college this weekend and will be performing this. I will let you guys know how it goes...but just know that my immediate impression of this effect is mixed.

Now we just need a clever way to force a word on a spectator...

I have already thought of just writing some random words on some blank cards, in conjunction with some roughing fluid you could have a very clean force of a word.
JoeKing, I understand your point and it too is the only part of the routine I don't like myself but I work with a bag and at gigs people almost expect you to walk off to do 'your thing'. I just pull it out of my bag and do it randomly when no one is expecting anything or I go and fetch it after doing some magic and come back and do it as a sort of after thought. I am working on some extra tips to leave in the DVD boxes when we get them. I can email you all the extra tips when I have them sorted. I am sure there is a simple way to sort this, I have been thinking, it just hasn't come to me yet! Thanks for your continued interest. Ben |

Ben,
I thought about using a blank backed Svengali dribbled on the table to show all different words, than get then to cut the deck to choose a card(word) of course its the force word for the bottle..make up a few different decks for gigs to do the effect a few times with different word everytime...or maybe possibly if they are available, find some promo cards that match the drink brand you are using and write words on the back near the drink logo, Patter based on the 'they came free with a multi pack of these dinks' I'm sure some drinks companies produce cards cards...few ideas anyway. Thanks Mark

Signing your OWN name seems suspicious to me.
Instead of forcing a word, have someone think of their favorite animal as you write out the prediction on the bottle label. The prediction, of course being the generic "gag" animal seen in most comedy mindreading effects (ie: Cereal Killer). Or... have them think of anything and you write "I Knew That" on the label (but you may want to ask Jon Allen first) Both of these methods appear impromptu AND you don't have to carry around any "forcing devices". And when the spectator recollects the effect, they will remember that they had something to do with what was written on the label. ps) I'm sure there is also many other gags out there that will have the same effect as the 2 listed. Dominic, did Ben finish up his extra tips? I ordered Labelled, so I would like to know if there is any way I can get his extra tips if he ended up finishing them.

I just go my hands on this last week and while it took some time initially to do the prep. I already have it down to about 10 minutes after doing a couple.
While I totally get some of the different ideas being passed around.... I have done this as performed in the demo and the reaction was nothing short of SHOCK. I did this last night and used a word force by preping a paperback. They talked about it all evening. The person I did it for left...and came back in to get the bottle to take home. I imagine a really nice card or number force would work well too.... I have also used a Spectators initials when I knew in advance I would be perfoming it for a specific someone. Do yourself a favor and perform this to see the reaction... If you are like me, as soon as you see the reaction you will start making up more gimmicks to have on hand. In my opinion, this is truly an amazing effect. Best to all! Bobby |

As I stated in the other thread on this effect, if you must have it signed, why not incorporate Sankey's "two-of-the-only-one-possible-in-the-universe" principle?
