I was looking at ultra smoke and loved how it looked. I noticed allt he negative aspects of it but I still wanted to do the effect. Would anyone know a repeatable gimmick such as the ultra smoke but without the harmful effects? Maybe one tha just uses baby powder for the effect. If you could also include a link to were you can purchase the item, that would be great.

Thanks!

This might work for you, all depends on what you want to use it with. Allows for the production of smoke, squirting liquids, and a host of other things. It is a low-tech reliable solution, but it will not fit all needs. It is $20.00 at the magic shops.

I used the ultra smoke and thought it was a lot of fun.
I see no reason not to use it if you like it.

Just be smart about your attire so it does not get damaged.
If you're not wearing a suit jacket, I see no reason to complain about it.

Jay Scott Berry had a good little unit that used dry ice. Victor Cephas used it for years.

Bill Abbott is putting out a DVD on Merlin's method of smoke-from-hands. Having seen it performed on Merlin's DVD, it is very effective.

The nice thing about the UltraSmoke for me was that I used it for 12 hrs straight at a grand opening gig without reset, refill, or anything else.

And I used it a lot.

For me, the best use of the effect was allowing the tiniest amound of smoke to appear when I snapped my fingers. I tried to keep it small enough that a spectator wondered whether they saw smoke or not. I felt this kept it from just being a "magic store gimmick".

The other great use was during a spongeball routine. By kneeding the hand palm down and allowing just a tiny puff of smoke, it really gave the impression of a spongeball vanishing, literally, into thin air.

Using red sponge balls and red-ish smoke would probably be a very nice thing to see.
