Ken,
This is why I buy them right away. I know what you are saying though. I have this book and it is great. All Paul Curry. Try checking on E-Bay as I see it every once in a while. Somewhere down the road somone will have it for sale... Rennie
The effect is the important thing, how you achieve it is not.......

I echo Rennie's words. Worlds Beyond is simply phenomenal. I remember one day being at a shop here in the midwest and I saw a magician looking at Worlds Beyond. He asked me if I had the book and what I thought of it. I told him that the book is a must have. So much amazing stuff is in this book that I would have paid triple its publication price. I told him that if he bought it and didn't like it, I would buy it from him. Now remember, I already OWNED a copy. Well, he bought it and I DID hear from him. He thanked me for guiding him to a great book.
You could write to Stephen Minch and ask him if there are any plans to reprint the book. Paul Curry was one of the great inventors, in the same class as Marlo, Lorayne, and Stewart James to name a few. If you can afford to do it and Mr. Minch is not going to reprint it, grab it at any price. You will NOT regret it. Within you will encounter some of the most original and powerful magic ever toi be unleashed upon specs and magi alike. Kind regards, Vlad |

If you are still in the market PM me and let me know. I picked one up not too long ago and the place may still have a copy left.

Bradbury books have a copy for sale for about $225; another copy went on eBay recently for nearly $300.

Another copy of this book was recently on eBay with a starting bid of $1.85 (USA) with "No Reserve" and the auction ended on 9/29 with NO BID!!!
Is this a crazy world or what? Mike I had passed infomation of this eBay auction onto a friend of mine and highly recommened that she bid on it. (I already own a copy of it.) For some reason, she did not bid and I passed on bidding on it because I didn't want to compete with her in the bidding. (Groan)

Was that the auction that was pulled early?

Nope. (At least I don't think so.) The auction I was referring to ended "naturally" on September 29th with no bids being made.

Boy, I hate it when a seller is allowed to end an auction early and a buyer gets dinged if he pulls out of an auction after placing a bid. Why does eBay allow sellers to do this without penalty? Mike

The copy on ebay priced at $300 did not sell. It was relisted with a starting bid of $40 (plus an absurd postage charge of $20), and now has bidders.
The fact that a professional bookseller like Bradbury would offer the book at a fantasy price point based on that failed auction seems very silly to me. But hey, opportunism abounds. Turk/Mike, if you don't make a bid, then you have no obligation to the seller, and the seller has no obligation to you. That's why the seller can pull out -- there are no unfulfilled obligations. From the other direction: if you do make a bid, then an obligation has been created and both sides have to follow through: you deliver money, and the seller delivers the goods. In each case there's symmetry. |

I have a quetion:
Is it worth investing in Paul Curry World's Beyond rather than buying a couple or more other GREAT magic books> ? Like for instance, Secrets of Bro Hamman, Expert Coin Technique, John Bannon books...etc. Thanks so much!! Tanner |

Just one point in defense of Bradbury Books. He has this book listed in his "Reverse Auction". He adds items each week with the starting price, at what seems to me to be, at the high end of the current market price. If no one buys the item that week the price is reduced by about 10% for the next week. The price from last weekend was $223 and it will continue to drop until someone buys it.

True, and yet for well more than a month of that reverse auction span he'll be offering the book at a crazy hyper-inflated price. I know when I saw his listing that it spurred me to wonder how overinflated his other prices are, even in his standard non-auction listings. It made me wonder if a person exhibits blatant opportunism in one area, does it also lurk elsewhere -- though perhaps less pronounced? (Example: Note how the $300 ebay auctioneer now has the $20 shipping charge.)
I think I should say that I've bought from Bradbury in the past and been satisfied. I was just dismayed to see his choice of pricing on this item, as it will now make me think twice (or more!) about all his pricing. |

I fully agree with James on that topic. It seems to be right to sell anything on Ebay , but when it comes to magic stuff there is like a taboo about money making.
In a free market a rare item asks for more money. If someone is not willing to pay that's ok. Quote:
