Hi,
A feature article on the Reuters news site http://today.reuters.com/news/articlebus......4[/link] claims "whales" or big-spending gamblers are (supposedly) now less important for Las Vegas casinos. "Whales, once significant factors in a casino's profits, are losing their importance, as gambling centers like Las Vegas depend more on non-gambling features for revenue and casino companies increase in size." But the article seems to contradict itself as it then goes on to describe the intense competition among casino's to land the "whales". Any comments? --William |

They are still the most important thing to an hustler. I know a crew of hustlers that will pay you for merely introducing them to someone with pleanty of money.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Tommy,
That's why I found the article a little strange; it describes the lengths that casinos will go to land the "whales", then says these whales aren't as important now... --William |

They are still important to the casino but not as important as they used to be, maybe. I mean slots, I am told, make the most money for them now. Still if I had a casino I would spend say a $1 on a whale to win $10 from him.
