So, what is a better term for we who love to blend mentalism with bizarre magic? Or, by its very nature, bizarre magic encompasses all forms of magic?
(I coined Mizzarist to describe my magic to Paolo - he then said how about Mentarist... and thus this thread was born... I like mizzarist more as I am partial to Z's from my Twilight Zone connections)

I like Mizzarist too. But then again, mizzery loves company. The only issue is you have to explain it, people have no initial idea of what it means. Tony |

That is the cool thing - you got an extra degree of mystery for people to engage in... actually, I was thinking it more as a slang term for we magic geeks

I also like mizzarist. Biztalist sounds like it could be one of the demons along with beelzebub and the gang!!
Mentabiz sounds like a type of breath mint for bizarre performers! On a more serious note, I love the way most mentalism routines can have a very bizarre twist with the right setting (and replacing of a few props). I use TA Waters Mind Myth and Magic all the time for new ideas (and not just the bizarre/tarot section either) Simon |

My business card says simply "EGREGOR-REALITY ENGINEER".
My mom says I'm reprehensible, I think I'm perfectly hensible.

I simply call myself "purveyor of mysteries."
I like "Reality Engineer," Egregor! It sort of reminds me of a police officer I used to know who called himself a "behavior modification specialist!" Naljorpa

Mentazarrist ?
Whatever you want - I think Bizarre is large enough of an umbrella though that it already overlaps a good amount of that genre. "Reality Engineer", to me, sounds like a regular engineer - that is, afterall, what they do, build in reality. How about " Unrealtor " I've a wonderful haunted house I'd love to show you !

...but the great thing would be that "magician" would become once again synonymous with "wizard" or "purveyor of wonders"... First the respect for magicians died out and now it became synonymous for "somebody who does tricks"... A shame, actually... But I do believe there's inherent power in the word "magic"... A power which our society (and our so called "brotherhood") denies... So we start to look for new words to describe what we do...
Perhaps this is as it should be, but isn't it a bit sad too ? |

Careful Traveler. Mystician has trademarked this after his catch phrase was trademarked away from him. Oh he was insufferable. Always running around saying, "That's Hot!".
