Well I have to be PC here but not at my Blog. (hint!!!!!!!!)
Did I enjoy the show...in a word Yes. But it had no Rings? No. Was it exciting? Sortof. Was it CIRCUS? uh...yeah. Should I read the whole report? Yes. (see signature) Circus to me is like say...going to Temple (if I was Jewish) or to Easter Services (if I was...uh...anything else)...it is in the blood like Vitimin C...I like to write about Circus (which is why I was a columnist for the Original version Of of Don Marks' Circus Report.) The Circus has changed drastcally....but the Horses get to run REALLY fast!

If you mean C duS, they're neither French, nor a circus.

I loved the description of the circus Doug, I felt like I was right there. Thanks for sharing your blog entry with us.

Doug, I saw the circus in Las Vegas a little while back. Me and the family were driving out of Vegas and saw the sign "THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH"!! I couldn't resist either. I loved it also, but it is smaller than the old days. It was cool that the kids could meet all the performers before the show--that was worth the admission for me I'm glad to see it's still alive...the shows were PACKED in Vegas. By the way, your blog is COOL!!! Everyone should check it out...

Well, French Canada stuff.
and CdS is Circus of the Sun in english, but it is more of a rock opera than a traditional circus. Brett.

Thanks for the posts and eMails all! Part Two is on line with the RBB&B of the past as I recall it....with my thoughts on the Sideshow, Freaks and Huge Menagerie that would be in the basement of old Madison Square Garden. What's that smell?
mmmmmmmm...Elephants...

By the way...I didn't say that CduS came from France...I said they had scenes FROM France etc. It also must be priced for France...the same seat that cost me $18 at Ringling would cost $205 with CduS and a kids seat $143.50 making a nice nuclear family outing only $697 for the tickets alone. YIPES!

Hmmm. CduS feature acts get around 2K a week, and I'm sure the nameless ones get a whole lot less. Somebody's raking it in... With a tenth of their budget, I could put together a show that would kick their *ss, and make a lot more money for the performers. Ah, well.
I remember RBB&B at the old Garden also, and the sideshow as well. They were expert at getting marks in, moving them through, and getting them out. Nowadays, the thought of so many stages would make any show manager cringe. But then, it was set up so that everybody went in one direction, around a big 'U', with stages on both sides of the aisle.

Theater Obscura and Esoterical Wispyness is expensive stuff...I'll bet you can count the cars withOUT NPR and PBS bumper stickers on one hand. I still relate it to the avant guarde puppet theater I walked out on once that thought childrens theater was wearing giant paper bags and humming OFF KEY while they wandered around the stage for the 1st act. I didn't catch the 2nd act...maybe it was a lecture in Tonganese sung with a Yiddish accent about Dolphin care and conservation. Shoot...and I missed it!
The New York pudding brains flocked to the show....nothing 'common and vulgar' for them! arrrrrrrhhhhhhh.
