I have finally registered - no more just lurking!
I am a Professor of pediatrics (children's chest diseases) at Wake Forest University in the States and a bit of the drifter as I am a Canadian who went to University in England and now spends a lot of time in Japan. For a number of years I have developed and performed "clinical magic" or close-up, personal, age appropriate magic to sick children in hospital (but not magic shows). I also teach magic to doctors through workshops at medical meetings around the world. I'd be delighted to meet others with similar interests and to pick any brains for news ideas Cheers BKR
A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in or the kind of car I drove.
But the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child. |

"What's up doc?" Welcome to the café.
Several years ago, magicians Kevin and Cindy Spenser created a program called "Healing of Magic." It has been extremely successful in helping people put together a hospital therapy program that uses magic as a vehicle to help individuals go "through the motions" and have some fun in the process. Here is a link you might find interesting that will tell you all about it. http://www.magictherapy.com/ Enjoy the café. You'll find some fantastic people here sharing lots of wonderful information. Thanks all for the welcome.
For Tanner -I am (was) an Edmontonian. I'll be lecturing in China next month (Sept 06) and I am thinking about what I can show the kids in hospital when I make my rounds. Must pack small (trouser pocket), not be scary, and understandable for kids 3-9 years of age without explanation or patter - I don't speak Chinese. BK

Welcome Doctor
Magic is an art. I am merely a tour guide.
