I thought I'd share this story because I found it very amusing at the time.

So, I'm hired as a strolling for a boat cruise. 50 people on a boat celebrating a 50th birthday; Alcohol, waves and loud music - seems perfect for pickpocketing. I go up to a group of people, 4 men. I do some magic effects, and notice that they all have identical watches. I don't notice they are the same at first, but notice they all have good watches to steal. Over about 5 minutes I steal all of their watches undetected, and got a wallet out of one of the guys' pockets. I finish the tricks and they are amused and said that they were impressed. I then proceeded to produce the watches one at a time from a handkerchief and gave them back to thunderous laughter. I finally pull out the wallet, when I notice it isn't a regular wallet - It's a badge! It seems as though I ran into 4 RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) Corporals! They couldn't get over how I could have taken their watches and badge and they walked off hysterical. I'm just glad I wasn't arrested!

Ben, great story, thanks for sharing. Sometimes we are presented with a set of circumstances which we did not plan, but with your experience and skill got some advantage. I bet the spectators who saw it will talk about that one for a long time.

you were stockholm, sweden, I mentioned to a very drunk guy that I was a magician for a living ...and sometimes took the end of the night, he came up to me and asked me to give him his watch back.

I explained I didn't take it..he didn't believe me. security were called, then police were called. it turned out he left it at home with his mother.....he had to apologise to me in front of the police, who found it all highly amusing.

I didn't however, after being held for a couple of europe some people have no sense of humour..quite amusing to look back on it now, but it wasnt very funny at the time!

I have a growing list of famous people's watches I've stolen. My favorites are a secret service member and a machine-gun-toting guard at customs in Belize.

Hi there,

Just wanted to say - Great Story!

I feel more magicians should be free enough to tell stories like that!

Many thanks
