Very good article.

Do you think that a hometown magician could make a good income without starring in his own theatre?

I e-mailed a professional magician one time for advice and he advised me to go into any other field except magic.

He acted as if unless you had a theatre or a large show then there wasn't much money to be made and you were basically going to live show to show.

Several of you make your money doing this, is there really a good income that's possible to everyone who does magic?

Hi Christian,

That very question was recently discussed in the café. Here is the link.

Google this guy's name and go to his web site. It's very interesting.

Quote:
Radatz is the only magician who has been commissioned by the U.S. Pentagon for a command performance for the U.S. military. His dedication to the troops in the armed forces has earned him several international awards, including such high honors as the Commander's Coin of Excellence and the Scroll of Appreciation of Honor and Admiration.

Does this mean that nobody else has ever done any USO work overseas for the troops? What about Howard Brooks, Steve Burton, Gene de Jean, Bev Bergeron, Milbourne Christopher.

This fellow had better start taming his PR material. It's too easy to check on this kind of stuff.

I agree with Bill. What a statement this guy makes! He, obviously, is NOT the only person to be "commissioned" by the Pentagon for USO tours oversees for "command performances."

In addition to those listed by Bill, how about the multiple trips by "Mr. Las Vegas" himself, Wayne Newton and the multiple trips by the WWE and their wrestling superstars including Vince McMahon, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Triple H, The Undertaker, JBL, The Big Show, John Cena and ring announcer Lilian Garcia, to name but a few?

How about the county-rock band Rascall Flatts, rocker Cheryl Crow, country music superstar Toby Keith and college football coaches Les Miles of LSU and Lou Holtze of Notre Dame fame? Why even "newsman" Geraldo Rivera showed up.

What about Pete Abitante, the NFL's senior director of international public affairs, and a veteran of leading NFL-USO tours? This year, he accompanied Seattle Seahawks defensive end Bryce Fisher, Atlanta Falcons defensive end Patrick Kerney and Pittsburgh Steelers tackle Max Starks on a 12-day USO tour to U.S. military bases in the Balkans and Persian Gulf.

As Bill said, it's really too easy to check these things out.

It reminds me of an act that is now "working" in Las Vegas. I saw his promo pack when he submitted it to Magic Island. It had a bogus comment from "Tom Browcrow" the newsman.
