It's all about the presentation. I have a clip of Amazing Johnathan doing this at a comedy club (yes it was an adult venue) and he asked a lady if she liked birds, the lady says yes and he says well then I think you will like this... he showed his hand empty puts red silk over it and produces the dove. then suddenly he smashes it and says Sorry I just hate birds... then he goes on to show his popcorn box with fake birds wired to it.... quite funny to me.
