Ron Reid has hit the nail on the head. I am doing neither of what you are suggesting. I am certainly not saying that the previous model was badly designed in any way, shape or form. The quality of the original is excellent and I would buy it again if I needed to. The colours are big bright and bold. The prop is quality built, the artwork is excellent, just as in the new version. It is just that the new version with its tweeks and refinements make it a better prop in my opinion. The original version is using the previous 'standard' method and the new version is not, it is a method that I haven't seen before on this type of prop. It is an improvement And a very good one!! And all I am saying is that I love it and personally think that others would love it too. Marcus |

I wish I could put it in my act, but really a Hip-Hop magician doesn't work with my pirate theme (most all of Chance's other props can be easily worked as pirate tricks, amazingly!) I still have a stage set of Hip-Hop Rabbits, so I'll stick with them for now. Maybe one day Chance will come up with a Hip-Hop Pirate....

I have the original Hip-Hop Magician and it is terrific! They are expensive, but well worth it given the quality of the product and the amount of work that goes into their manufacture. If the cabinet is now thinner and more durable due to a new material, that's great. I like mine just fine without these improvements. However, I must confess to feeling a certain pang when reading that an improvement now allows the cabinet to be displayed at the end and not quickly put away. That is inevitable when an improvement is subsequently made to an expensive purchase. That said, is one to blame Chance or any quality manufacturer for improving their product? Of course not! More power to him and future owners of his product. But still, a bit of a pang.....

There, that is better Marcus. Your original statements made it sound like the first one had faults that made it not a good routine. I do love the look of the routine. Also based on the comments I think I know the change he made and it is, if is what I think, an improvement in particular to the handling of the cabinets at the end of the routine.

Hello eveyone, I have been reading all these posts on the "NEW HIP HOP" . I was fortunate enough to get to work with the first of the improved model.
First I should state that I have used the original in many many shows this past year, and have not had any feelings of disappointment with the prop/handling or routine. That being said, I got the new version when I arrived at KIDABRA. WOW!! I like the new material, Though from stage it looks identical. But what makes it so cool is the "Work"! When I demonstrated this at Kidabra, I let the guests "Do the Work", the response was always the same. "Ohh, that is unreal!", or "Your kidding, I can't believe how easy that is!" "so smooth!" Where a few of the comments. Chance has taken out any movement for "doing the work", that is completely failsafe, there is no "tricky grip" on the covers. It truly is a thing of beauty. That being said, the original still rocks, because the whole concept rocks and is completely original. also, I think you can still buy the original for a bit of a price break, compared to the NEW! good luck to you folks who get to add this to your shows! Timing is everything. I just ordered this yesterday and it is on its way to me as I type. I wanted it for a long time but food and mortgage came first (gotta work on my priorities). I was unaware of the improvements when I ordered ...i just knew that I wanted it....and could now afford it. Yippie!

Barry....I hate you. Kidding. Wish I'd waited for the new version. Anybody wanna buy a good used Hip Hop Magician? Kidding again. I'm not parting with this thing for anything. They say ya can't take it with ya...well...I AM taking it with me.

I talked with Chance, and the new Hip Hop Magician's sounds great! He explained how I could make a few changes to my original version to closely approximate the new ones, but truth is I've been very happy with mine....they are terrific as is! I decided "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" so I'm going to continue to enjoy the original version as I received it. For those who buy a new one, you have to be impressed with a workman who is always improving his products. And thanks to Chance for taking a moment to talk it over with me. Pang gone!

Good question dove-boy. My regular table was just a little bit too small and my wife reminded me that our Honda CRV, which I use when going to shows, came with a small table that is like a card table ....and that was what I used ....with a nice cloth covering of course. I will probably keep using this till I come up with something better. It stores easily and is always there! Go HONDA.

Is it easy to modify the first sets to work like the newer or improved sets?

Give Chance Wolf a call--he was very good about explaining the process.

I just purchased the original for a great price and these are outstanding. For the price I paid I got a steal. Top quality as is all of Wolf's props and the move needed is so easy even without the improvement a kid could do it. These are BIG and meant to be done in a parlor or stage setting. I was lucky enough to get these for 50% off the selling price and this may be my favorite wolf prop due to the simplicity and ease of use. IF you can pick up the original at a discount you will WILL NOT be dissapointed! One of the best purchases I have made.

Just recieved mine. Great props, amazing artwork and a lot of effort has gone into this.
I wont actually start performing with them for at least a couple of months until I have blended them into my new production that I am working on at the mo. Conversing with this company left something to be desired. I realize there is an 8 hour time difference between my country and theirs but they are so slow in answering emails and I think they can do better on that front. In all fairness, when the do eventually get around to answering or speaking on the phone, they are very courteous and make you know that you are in good hands. Dani |

Dani,
Not making excuses for Chance and/or Shelley, but Shelley's pregnant and slowing down on helping, from what Chance has told me. That pretty much leaves everything from answering emails to construction and testing to the big guy himself...Chance Wolf. He seldom sleeps, and he's doing the best he can right now. Trust me when I say...give him and the company a "chance". There's none better. Steve Thomas |

Of course this small obstacle will not personaly offend me and of course I will continue to purchase "first class" quality props from Wolfs magic when the time is right for me but this is not the first time I have sent them email(s) and have not had an answer within 24 to 48 hours.
I don't think Shelly was pregnant last year and again, nothing personal, but I would never expect my customers to have to wait so long befor I got back to them with a simple answer and email. After all - I didn't ask them to make an overseas phone call or to go out of their way across town. never mind - it's no big deal but does, unfortunately, leave something to be desired. If there was nothing to ever fix - we could never give better service. Dani |

Some people aren't as attached to their computer / e-mail as others are. Just because you are that way, does not mean that everyone HAS to be that way.
Just an observation, that can lead to understanding. - Donald
