I've been thinking about it all weekend. How about cuttin' up some jackpots.

I'd have to second that, and add that Doc Wilson's Improvised street show was very entertaining.

I really wish I could have made it.
Anyone want to start a "Get the Freak Prodigy to Wilkes-Barre" fund? Brett.

I was able to stop in for a few hours. Doc was in fine form! And everybody seemed to have been having a blast (without the bomb threat).

I had a really great time! And thanks all for the kind words.
Other than Harley, I hadn't met anyone else there face-to-face before the Gathering. It was fun meeting the folks behind the avatars. I was very impressed by the people there. If you have the slightest interest in sideshow, everyone accepts you and you are "with it." I think that everyone knows that this is a form that is barely hanging on, so there is no use being clubby and exclusive about it. Harley did a beautiful job on his tribute to Slim. From what I saw at the Gathering, the candle is still burning, and sometimes it is blazing! We also found out where the edge was when Dennis opened the snake wine - a bottle of high-proof something with a cobra in it - and took a pull off the bottle. I sensed a one-in-a-lifetime-opportunity and took a sip also. One or two other people tried it. The best part was seeing the assembled light-bulb-eaters, human pincushions, sword swallowers and fire eaters turn pale and say that that was too much! You never know where the line is until you cross it! I will definitely be there next year, probably with my flea circus and with at least one banner donated for the auction. Yours, Paul |

Just wanted to say what a great time I had at this year's Sideshow Gathering.
It was wonderful to meet up and/or hang out with so many people I haven't seen in a while--Matt TK, Todd Robbins, James Taylor, Sideshow Bennie--and meet people I knew only through this and other on-line media, like Doc Wilson, Pele, and John Shaw. Seeing Dick Zigun and the performers from Sideshow by the Seashore was a real treat, too. They were terrific. (I have a performer's crush on Insectavora, now; I had seen pictures of her, but had never seen her perform--she's so adorably goofy!) My only regret is that I didn't get to see Krista and attend the memorial for Slim. I really wanted to be there. A huge thanks once again to Franco for putting together such an amazing event! To paraphrase a Passover sentiment--next year in Wilkes-Barre! ~Stephon

Words can't explain it - but to those of you who were there (and you know who you are!) I had sooo much ***ed fun hanging out again this year. And check out my myspace in a few days as I plan on posting a blog on it by Friday.

Dear Doug,
It appeared to be from Vietnam. That's not as much of a trip from California as it is from Maine! I figured that since I've peddled snake oil, I ought to try the real thing. The cobra was posed very nicely, too. Check the pix here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snake_Wine Yours, Paul |

I think one of the highlights for me, was the lovely sight of Sideshow Bennie in pasties. What a vision! And of course putting faced to the names from the Café and elsewhere.

Oh my goodness! Poor snakes...
But I understand your feeling of "once in a lifetime" and went for it. I probably would go for it too. Glad to hear everyone enjoyed themselves! Gwyd and I really wished we could have gone. Maybe next year if our schedules and pockets will allow.

Snake wine is a regularly sold item on ebay, under "weird taxidermy", or something like that.

It was truly a great weekend, and something I look foward to next year. It was great to share the stage with people like Todd Robbins, The Bindlestiffs, Bennie, Matt TK, The Pickled Brothers, Aye Jaye, Ses, Red, Dr. Wilson, The Coney Island gang, and all the other vendors and people involved, but especially thanks to Franco for putting this crazy event together for all of us. I had a great time on the roof with Roc & Donny V the first night. If you are a sideshow fan or performer you need to make the pilgramage to this mecca of like mined folks.
