I was reading the cover of a Tarbell book and noticed that Harlan Tarbell was listed as Dr. Harlan Tarbell. Just wondering what kind of doctor that Dr. Tarbell was.

Great question! I've heard a number of "theories," but very little fact other than that he served for several years during World War I as an assistant in the army's medical division. I have never been able to find any information regarding any kind of formal medical training. Supposedly, his grandson was producing an informational web site a few years ago, but the last time I checked it the site address led to a blank page. Here's a great subject for the next Jim Steinmeyer or Todd Karr book.

From what I understand, Tarbell was a doctor of naprapathy, which is something like being a chiropractor.
