Reply: After the deck is shuffled & then given a complete cut by a spectator...THEN I run through the face-up deck and cut the deck in half between any 2 red cards that I see in the middle. This always leaves a red & black card on the bottom of deck - which serve as the "indicator cards" for the routine, and I place them on the table face-up. I then proceed with the routine.

Thank you for replying to my question, Moxahalla-san. I supposed that you would do so.
If you do so, I think, spreading cards face up to find indicator cards negates the effectiveness of the 'Cut'. Or it is possible the 'Cut' does not any effectiveness in this trick. (Riffle Shuffle (with help of Gilbreath Principle) strongly convinces that it is impossible to take one red and one black). Hideo Kato |

Hideo Kato:
"the 'Cut' does not any effectiveness in this trick" >>>>That is indeed true. But it's just so fair that after the deck is riffled-shuffled (ideally by the performer - to be safe) - to then have a spectator cut the deck himself...just to totally convince people that the deck can't be stacked. But you're right - the 'cut' is not really needed. I'm happy to hear that you are also familiar with this great trick-idea. --Moxahalla |

I really enjoy "Out of this Universe" I'll have to go look up the one from my favorite card tricks again... it is terrific and I forgot all about it. You may also want to check out "Out of this Burough" by David Regal.

I usually do the Andrew Murray version from the 13 DVD, as this is completely impromptu and can be done with a borrowed deck.
The justification for swapping the colours - I usually do this with two people, so there is a reason to change and shuffle half way through. I sometimes tell somebody that I think they are doing too well - and I will make things harder now, then shuffle and swap colours.
