I used to work for a hardware store that rented out lots of party equip. Everything from tables and chairs to slushy machines and bounce houses. I was in the other day and the owner proposed renting me out! At first I did not know what to think, but hey a booking is a booking. So he now has a big sign Of me advertising magic to all his customers.

In doing this I think I may aproach a few other "equipment rental" places and see about putting up a flyer and cards at their locations.

Could work out ok since they see a lot of wedding, open house and party planners.

Let me know what you think

Eric Paul in his course "How To Be Your Areas Top Entertainer" has an idea in there about a POP display.
Here is another idea. Have a magic kit in the store. Do a drawing for the magic kit. Then you have all the info on your drawing card, like wedding date, birthdate, or what evever you are going for as far as a market.

Great idea on the raffles as I have done that myself. Just make sure that if you are having children fill out the cards that you write on there to get a parents signature. You can not be too careful about that sort of thing these days.

The "For Hire" could be a nice angle for a publicity story too
with your local paper. You can imagine the photo op.

We discussed joint projects with Party Supply Shops
in a Magic Coach article. (in the archive) There are plenty of options
including the Raffle idea mentioned above.

Do let us know how you get on.

If you offer them some sort of incentive to push the show, then so much the better.

The owner likes you so that is his incentive. To get people to want to help you, you have to be able to make it worth while. Lets be honest here, make them money.

Offer them an agents cut, and you will be shocked at how many parties you get. I did this for a few summers so I could book work near home. I live in the Midwest and it resulted in more parties than I could handle.
