I have "SIGMA" and its one of the best books I bought this year. For the price it's a steal!
I also want to order the "Watermark Codex" I'm tempted to order it but I'd like to know more on what it is. Anyone who got it can review it fully? |

Imagine if you could mark envelopes in any way you need (numbers, letters, marks) for your particular invented trick. The marks are invisible to all except you, when you innocently 'activate' the marks. Then they disappear again. No chemicals, gadgets, hassles or troubles.
Most subtle, most powerful, and well worth knowing. The method can be applied to a great many existing effects, and making up your own uses is just a matter of cranking up the Wagner and a couple of gins. It's up to his usual standards,so you should get it if you like his thinking.

The Watermark Codex is a sneaky and invisible way of marking envelopes, paper, etc. for effects such as Pseudo Psychometry, Sneak Thief, Bank Night, etc.
You can hand out sheets of paper and have people draw something and you'll be able to know who drew what and they can examine the papers all day long and not see a mark that would code them YET you can see it any time you want. The same thing applies if you hand out letter envelopes in which people must seal some question or some object... The marks are invisible to all except you, when "activated". No chemicals, no toxic stuff, no gadgets, no UV Lights, no other devices... ONLY YOU AND YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE WATERMARK CODEX!
Then you'll rise right before my eyes, on wings that fill the sky, like a phoenix rising!

I feel compelled to add my two cents to this discussion of one of Paolo's exciting, new offerings:
"Watermark Codex" is another brilliantly simple yet powerful tool for the working mentalist from the ever creative mind of Paolo Cavalli. Envelopes can be marked for identification in a manner that only the performer can possibly read. Audiences have become increasing sophisticated in discovering traditional methods of 'secret' markings; this system allows you to place numbers, letters, words, etc. in a way that will make them totally invisible until needed by the performer. The marked envelopes can be handled openly (or examined thoroughly, if necessary) with no fear of detection. No additional apparatus, special lighting, or chemicals are required to view the markings, yet they can be easily read at the appropriate time. Here is a tool that is marvelous in concept, easily prepared and performed, undetectable, and utterly practical! As with many of Paolo's creations, "The Watermark Codex" will inspire your own creative efforts to take maximum advantage of its awesome potential! Tom |

I post my review after having tried on different letter envelopes and kraft envelopes. Best result are obtained with letter envelopes but with some pay envelope it could work. The real delight however was to me the bold "fingerprint" activation of the invisible markings. I knew it worked but I was impressed to watch how my finger created the image on the envelope.

I'm glad people is trying the codex before posting here. Only in that way you have FIRST-HAND experience of it!
Yes, I mentioned sheets of paper, envelopes, but I did not mention this work on index cards (thanks Scott Xavier!) as well as on your business cards if you want to prepare a few (or all) of them in this way.

Paolo,
Your PayPal website (www.sensitivo.org/paolocavalli.htm) is in Spanish and I'm hesitant to order from there! Are the downloaded documents in English? If they are, then perhaps you should say so on your website! Thanks! Craig |

Craig,
You're welcome! Yes, all of the books on that site are in ENGLISH. If you prefer to wait in order to know more, in a week or less, I should have my website running with some brief info on any of my books. Again, thank you for your interest.

Please, for the last time, guys read my posts about ordering.
It's the third post I write explicitly that you need to know if your mailbox accepts files larger than 1MB for SIGMA, and up to 4MB or more if you want the Full Package. While I can split the sending for the full package, I cannot split a single ebook. Check before ordering. It's in your interest to know that.

Good! I LOVE when people thoroughly TEST-DRIVE things!
I realize that there are some subtleties I left out from the treatise, like IRONING (!) but I'm almost sure those things will come to your mind when you get some more experience with the Codex...

I bought "Watermark Codex" from Paolo Cavalli last week along with "Sigma".
Let me add my thoughts to this discussion. If you have a routine where you use marked envelopes, then this ebook is for you. It's a pretty straightforward thing. Everything that has been said up until now on this thread is true. The marks can only be seen by you and you don't need any special aparatus in order to see them. You can even leave the envelopes behind and let them be examined by everyone. It's almost impossible to detect them unless you know the secret. And you don't even need a lot of practice to "see" the marks, I performed this two days after I bought it. Of course I already had a routine with marked envelopes, so I just switched methods. And I'm glad that I did, this method is much easier and practical to spot than my previous one (Ian Rowland's "Sense Of Touch"). Paolo offered a wonderful support for this. In fact, after I read it, I emailed him to discuss where and how I was going to use it and he gave me an excellent advice for my effect! Only this kind of support of a busy professional mentalist is worth the very low price he is asking for this great method. Sariel |

I agree. The Watermark Codex is way underpriced. Paolo is almost giving it away.
I haven't used it in performance but I've been having a ball experimenting with the best possible applications. What a treat to have something that is indetectible and can be left behind without worry. It is the kind of thing (like SOT) that will drive those "in the know" crazy but it is so much more than that and it would be a crime only to use it as a magician fooler. So many other variants are less reliable and more difficult to use. Pure genius! One question (I know, ask Paolo) but has anyone applied the Codex to lunch bags? That was one media that I did attempt to use it on with mixed results and wouldn't be as secure to use it real world. Perhaps I'm missing something that can make it work? Good Thoughts, Bill |

Mmmm... not sure about which paper the lunch bags are made of, overthere, Bill.
Otherwise, with my brown paper bags - and with some care - you could do it. As I wrote somewhere in this thread, I believe, sometimes it helps to try other "writing tools" to mark the things you need. Different hardness / softness of the tool can make the difference, as well as IRONING a little the bags / paper before and after you put the work in.

Thanks Paolo. The lunch bags here are brown bags as well (hence our phrase "brown bagging it") so probably much the same as what you are used to. I will give your advice a try and let you and everyone know what happens.
Good Thoughts, Bill |

Hi Paolo,
May I ask if the Watermark Codex can be applied on-the-fly, i.e. in an impromptu situation? Thanks. Andy |
