I was wandering in a bookstore last week and stumbled across a magazine - Guilt and Pleasure. It apparently is a Jewish magazine, but with a cool sense of humor. The tagline of the magazine is "Making Jews Talk More" Being that I am not remotely Jewish you might wonder why I picked up such a periodical.
This issue Number 3 is entitled the Magic Issue. I picked it up out of curiousity and discovered an amazingly eclectic compilation of strange and bizarre pieces about the art. From the Official Magician of the Israeli Army, to a tale about the Golem to a Graphic Novel on Houdinin, it is full of discoveries. I encourage you to go to your eclectic newsstand and pick it up before it passes. I think you'll enjoy it.

Sounds pretty cool.
Here's a link to their site... http://www.guiltandpleasure.com/ Unfortunately, I wouldn't know where to find this in Seattle. If anyone has a recommendation please let me know. Thanks! |

Go to their site. It is online...you will need acrobat reader.
Great stuff! Oy! Or you can subscribe on line or buy copies. AS to the Magician of the JDF...I love this quote... "...Also, I have to perform shows with no sound system sometimes because the rooms [in which] I am asked to do certain shows are super secret. This is when I am performing for the guys who run special-ops on [terrorists]. They are in dark rooms, underground; they are guys who don’t see sunlight, who never leave the compound. Sometimes, I am put in a van and blindfolded. I sign a secrecy form [stating] that I cannot tell where I’ve been." hmmmm.
