Hi everyone
From what I have seen and heard, Guinness looks like a definate no. However I might (only MIGHT) be able to get Ripley's to cover it in some capacity. They are likely to be filming a piece with me on that day so it is possible they will extent the cover to include the whole event. I will let you know what I find out. Cheers David

We have just added our first escape artist from Australia. The count now is 64 escape artists from 11 countries. That is really excellent!
If you are an escape artist, and are not yet registered, have a look at the registration page for the Worldwide Escape Artist Relay 2007. It's very esay to register, and it's free! If you are currently registered and haven't yet sent in a photo, have alook at the great photos on the Worldwide Escape Artist Relay Photo Gallery. I continue to be amazed at the diversity and inventiveness of the practitioners of our art! In personal news, we recently landed a great venue for Dr. Wilson's WEAR 2007 escape! It's the Criterion Theatre, an 800-seat Art Deco theater built in 1932. The theater was recently purchased by a nonprofit organization, and they love us because of the All-Star Magical Revue, returning this year on July 4, featuring a performance by The Incredible Gill-Man. Best wishes to all in making October 27, 2007, one for the books! Yours, Paul |

Hi everybody,
11 countries is great, but the question is are we really a world wide event when there are over 200 countries in Earth? I would love to see some more representation.. I know there was a south American EA at Cannons last October, does anyone know him or how to reach him? Anyone know any EA's in the orient? The list is very heavy here in the U.S. with Canada and the United Kingdom both strong. How can the French, birth place of Robert Houdin not wish to be represented? I may post something at handcuffs.org. They are collectors not EA's, but they are very internatuional and might know some other people. c'mon guys, we are up to 67...Lets hit 100! Seriously, does anyone have any ideas how to reach more people internationally? Are there any Hawaiian EA's?

Hi everyone
A quick update on my planned WEAR stunt. I did have something big happening, I was hoping it would a nice surprise. Unfortionalty some scheduling issues have forced me to move that stunt to at least a week before WEAR. I will still be doing something on the 27th, but it won't be as big as I had hoped. The date of the Ripley's has moved too, so they won't be connecting the stunt I am doing for them with WEAR. I also have an idea that might help push it towards the 100 mark. If you are on my Myspace friends list, you'll see Cheers David

We now have 70 registrants from 13 countries. We have just had our first registrant from South America, Diego Minevitz of Argentina. If you have not yet registered, please do so. Please see:
http://www.ibmring362.org/WEAR2007.html It is three months until the event, time to nail down all the details. Is there widespread interest in making it "official," with witness forms and all that? Or should we just let it unfold? It would be great to document this as much as possible. We have several people who have offered to receive photos or video. For those of you who are I.B.M. members, your local Ring should help out with documenting this and sending a Ring Event Report to The Linking Ring. If you are a participant, speak up. Yours, Paul |

Just a quick question-
Is there a succinct media package about the event that might help to get media attention? A package we can add to our own personal material? I have looked at the site, but was wondering if there was more. And it looks like Sylver might be doing an escape of some sort as well. I'll have her e-mail her info to be added to the list. I am getting excited about this! Gwyd |

Russell and I met last week to iron out details on "dueling straitjackets". It was a lot of fun. We worked out some cute gags to throw in. I too am getting excited.
If I recall correctly I was asked to handle the documentation of who successfully completed their WEAR escape, and to that end I think I will generate a form. I think that many participants are not on the Café, and I am not sure what the best way to distribute it...

Dear Gywd,
Good idea, I will post a press release. Cliff, I have email addresses for almost everyone, including some that are not public. There are some people without email, but I have an email address for their local contact (e.g. local Ring President). Yours, Paul |

On Sunday, I will be speaking with a freelance reporter who will be producing an audio piece for Weekend America, a program carried nationally by National Public Radio affiliates. The story, if accepted, will be run just prior to WEAR 2007. The reporter is very interested in the event, but has made it clear that these radio stories are mostly about individuals. I will do my best to make a great pitch for WEAR 2007, and to acknowledge the superior skills of many of the other participants. It is difficult for me to use the words "us" or "fellow escape artists" without being humbled by what some of you have accomplished.
If you are participating in WEAR 2007, please post as your press efforts blossom. And if you haven't yet done so, get me some photos. The gallery grows daily at: http://www.ibmring362.org/WEAR2007/WEAR2007photos.html Yours, Paul |

While this is not exactly earth-shattering news, I am pleased. I had the opening meeting with the office manager of my WEAR venue yesterday. They have decided to upgrade my room to a larger auditorium with a bigger and better stage. I guess they liked the show we did for them last year. I guess they liked the money they made from it, too.
