Here is a list of Levitations (in use today) that come to mind.
(Updated From List below)
Do you know any other Levitations? (not Suspensions)

Nice work Dennis! Another great list.

We're rehersing a 360 levitation at the moment! (Actually we've been rehersing it on and off between shows all summer) It was designed and build by Dani Lary. We are finding it very difficult to manipulate with such bad angles. We're now going to do it without the 360 until we can get it down!
Sean PS You can see a couple of pics of it on our web site! |

I just remembered the "Aliun Levitation" by Marc DeSouza and "Hoverman" levitation

ANTI-GRAVITY LEVITATION by Mike Parobec
The construction process was very tedious but once I finished it I was very happy with how it looked. It's not something you would want to have on all day but if you're planning to perform it, it looks quite nice. CRISS ANGEL LEVITATION by Criss Angel Again not something you would wear around all day long unless you plan to use it. The effect is VERY strong and once you get the feel for it, it looks great. BALDUCCI LEVITATION Ah the classic Balducci. Like many others this is the first self levitation I had ever performed and the reactions were simply golden. I love that there is no need to "clean up" after the float. You can simply turn around and grin. I use this more than any other. KING RISING by Corey King This one has it's advantages and it's disadvantages. If you like the Balducci it's definitely worth trying. You will have to be creative when it comes to the set up and clean up however there are several solid performers out there with some great solutions. I do love that you can see both feet during the rise. FANTASTIC FLOATATION by Steve Fearson I've only seen two performers really do this one well. Steve Fearson and Ron Jaxon. I haven't witnessed too many who can really take this effect and run with it. I think the size of the gimmick has a lot to do with that.

Thanks Chris, since I am looking for a self levitation I will try the Balducci. Then after that maybe try the King Rising.
Thanks again, Eric |

Very salient question - which are good or not. Venue, angles, set-up and knock-down time for rigging, sound cover, curtaining all enter into this picture. Also - must it be levitation of a hum Must it be the levitation of a human body, other objects, combinations of both -- audience member, assistant, the magician???? I have never had a "stock" levitation or suspension work "right out of the box" and have modified, rebuilt and changes everything (as have you) to suit the need. But - my guess - is that with the proper re-working and stabilization (not cheap) the Gamalo is the most versitale for the human body for the bucks -- even though it can be tough on angles betimes. The Losander Table levitation is without a doubt (for me) the best in its class for inanimate object levitation. Then there is that rig Jim Riser built for hmself with optical fiber based on the old piano wire Thurston....amazing -- could not see the wires from 5 feet away --- but you had to hide the lift.

Hi all!
I'm not sure, but the Fearson Fantastic Floatation was the first to use that kind of gimmick (correct me, please if I'm wrong). Criss Angel modified it slightly. Very similar to Jaxon's version. In fact, I wonder if Criss got that idea from Ron...or came up with it himself. FFF is my favorite one-man floating, and Ron Jaxon does it best, in my opinion. Amazing...Steve Fearson and I discussed the FFF before he released it. He was a guest lecturer at one of our IBM meetings one year, and I still have the original kit. I think I gave him $20 or $30 for the package. We were quite impressed. We wanted him to come back and lecture again (his cigarette routine was KILLER), but could not contact him for some reason. CROSS LEGGED LEVITATION by Chris Stolz...I am not familiar with...is it simlar to Fearson's, Chris? Doug |

The Cross Legged Levitation was similar to an effect in Andrew Mayne "Touching Sky" booklet with several additions and modifications made to it. Although it is no longer available, it was of course sold with Andrew's permission.
