Hey Jonton,
Thanks for another reference. I'll have to look into that routine as well. I finally got around to reading Luka's routine (Chromo Balls) in L.I.N.T. I must agree that out of all of the routines I have read thus far (Scarne's, Vernon's, and Archer's) it is the best one yet. Mr. Chosse was right when he said earlier in this thread that it's the best one he has seen thus far, I whole-heartedly agree! The color change in the beginning is just diabolical and the entire routine itself is just plain awesome. It's not entirely too hard either. I think the hardest part will be finding the balls to do it with and even that's not too hard. I found a whole bag of them, which is way too many then I need! I have a few 100 spares LOL...and that's not a joke. To those of you who don't have the book, get it! I'd say Chromo Balls is worth the price of the book alone. Plus there's a ton of other great magic in there too, you can't lose! -Bill |

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the reference, I guess I should go ahead and also get the book. all the best. P.S by the way if you have some of those balls to spare I'll be willing to ask you for a few of them, since I have been searching for them, but the shipping cost way more then the whole bag of balls,LOL. |

Yeah, where do you find the balls for Chromospheres? I checked Morisseys and other dealers some time back but nobody seemed to have enough different colors.

I had to go through the Oriental Trading Company to get the ones that I have. The downfall is that I had to order a bag of 144, but all the colors that you need are in there lol...Here's the link to the ones that I ordered: orientaltrading.com That should be the right one.

I've been working on a three ball routine based on Johnny Thompson's and David Roth's routines. These two routines are very similar but it was educational to watch the two. Roth's performance is technically very good and has some appearances to get the balls into play.
Johnny Thompson is not the technician Roth is but his performance is a lot more entertaining. After watching him perform his routine over and over I've become very impressed with how he's built in the misdirection. There's a lot of attention to detail he has that I didn't pick up on until learning and performing it. I recommend the Thompson DVD. I didn't know about the routine in L.I.N.T. I have a copy and will have to check it out. -Brian |

Just figured I'd post again...
I've been using the routine from L.I.N.T. in my table-hopping set as of late. I have to admit it's getting way stronger reactions then I had originally expected. I'm a little upset that I can't keep this gem of a routine to myself lol...Sorry to be so selfish For those that don't know, give the routine a shot! -Bill |

I stumbled upon a bag from Oriental Trading Company. Here's the link : Here. The only problem is you have to buy a whole bag, so that'll leave you with lots and lots of spares...

I perform Chromosheres(ish), and I've used several different presentations - traffic lights and healing "crystal therapy" stones to name but two.
I've placed the balls under the spectators palm and had them roll them around a bit, then reveal the colour change. I use this as a divination / treatment and continue... Since I'm finally posting in this thread I'd like to add a couple of bits. At the end of phase one you're holding out - you can make easy use of this immediately. This will make sense to anyone who can see the next phase from the audience’s point of view. Next, I never Chromo-switch two balls the same colour - the Mora style moves (I feel) achieve a fairer looking illusion here. (The move is established in an open way, the less open change in handling then goes by without attracting furher attention) Finally, regarding the balls themselves, I use 20mm cats eye (chrysoberyl) spheres. These suit my persona, I can talk about their optical and structural properties, make something else up, and they come in many colours (but I use red, green and yellow). Most importantly, they are hard and shiny like the mock-ivory balls Vernon used. Yes, they can talk, but I find it easier to keep them apart between my fingers than squeeze a rubber or crochet ball through my hand. |

I currently do a routine similar to Johnny Thompson's (disappear, reappear, transposition.) I use computer mouse balls. They have a weight I appreciate and their texture can't be beat. also the "pop-up" moves are very smooth with these balls.
After reading this thread, I think I'm going to have to check out this chromo-stuff for something new!

The cork balls used in Chromo Balls isn't a necessity but are supposed to facilitate an easier switch...they may not work for everyone as we are all unique. It could be argued that you need a lighter touch to use them but IMO it helps keep the moves undetected.

On the subject of the types of balls that some are using. I have a preference for using rubber ones myself. As I mentioned earlier, I'm using ones I found off of Oriental Trading company's site. Those are 3/4" I'm thinking of switching to 1 inch size. I just recently thought of using the 1 inch fakini balls. Anyone who has handled them before knows their quality. The only part that is preventing me from this is having to buy 3 different sets to use them. That's the part that I'm not sure if it's worth doing or not.

I have a routine that is a bit different from most. It's called "Having a Ball" and it appeared in my book, "Great Scott! It's More Magic!" (now out of print). However, if you'd like the routine, it is available separately, either as a PDF for $5, or the printed manuscript (complete with the necessary balls) for $10 postpaid in the USA. The instructions are 5 pages with 19 clear photos. to buy it, just Paypal me at:

I too noticed that the routine was also in Luka's new book. For those that have his new book, how much has the routine been revamped. I gave up on the routine about a month or two ago because it just took up too much pocket space (3 pockets just to keep all the balls organized!!!) in my table hopping set. It's a shame because it's a killer routine and got great reactions. If anyone could let me know I'd really appreciate it, either through a PM or on this thread.
Thanks, Bill |
