Jennings palming and rub a dub vanishs are pretty good but I didn't really like they way he layed the card on the table everytime in the Invisible Palm.
Also his Oil and Water was all right.

WOW awesome finds. IP is my favorite routine, it's a great feeling to see the master finally do it and pick up some few pointers. I agree that the laydowns could've been better. But his tent and rub a dub were absolutely perfect~

If you mean you don't like to lay the cards in squared condition, it is better for us to understand what are difference of two ways.

If you place cards in spread condition, the effect occurs when you lift right hand. But if you place the cards in squared condition, the effect occurs when you spread the cards, not when you lift rigth hand. Maybe we can say the former is a visual way and the latter is a logical way in showing an effect.

Of course I mix visual ways and logical ways in showing effects, but I prefer logical ways because they appeal to audience's mind while visual ways appeal to audiences eyes.

Great Find, Larry Jennings Oil and Water as soon as I saw it, it reminded me of the version Ray Kosby shows on ICM. This post is not ment as a who did it first its more of a they were almost the same routine type post. Anyone else agree?

I totally agree with you Hideo San. I thought deeply about this and in the end it just made me realize how human these greats are. They too have bad days, so to speak. Another lesson here is that, if the great Larry Jennings can flash, what more for the weekend magicians. One flash from Mr. Jennings is nothing compared to what he has given the magic community. His legacy is enough smoke to ignore that itsy bitsy flash. It must have been great to have sessioned with Mr. Jennings huh..., Hideo San! I remember seeing a photo of you with him.

I still love this routine.

I don't like larry's handling of the invisible card. but I think it is just a matter of taste, like some people like Sauerkraut and do not, right Rannie
I am a big fan of Malone's version.
But Larry's oild and water routine was really great.

LOL! Marcus, your DVD is on the way! Sorry for the wait my friend. Well....., what I did love was the idea and the work on open travelers. You are right! The handling was not one of his best.

Wow, great find. That was a lot of fun to watch. His oil and water definitely reminded me of the one Ray Kosby does on his DVD. (Or I should say Ray's reminds me of Jenning's?) I don't want to get the DVD out...But I think Kosby says his routine was inspired by Jenning's. But I could be wrong.

What can I say about Larry Jennings that hasn't been conveyed before. He is still a superhero in my mind and snippets such as these only refresh the memory of a great man. I aggree with Rannie as we often neglect the fact that the greats are mortals and not perfect. I really enjoyed the videos and as we all know when this video was filmed, Larry was perhaps a little passed his prime and his health was deteriorating rapidly. He passed away at a relatively early age, but even so, to hear his voice and watch his presence was a joy. Thank you so much.

Allright? You've just watched one of the best Oil & Water routines ever created and you say it's "allright?" It's brilliant, that's what it is.

To those who are wondering about the similarity with Ray Kosby's "Never The Twain Shall Mix" (originally from Stephen Minch's Spectacle book), two of the phases in Larry's routine is Kosbys. Another phase is Vernons.

If I remember right, Larry published this routine in Up in Smoke (1990 edition). The recent re-release (http://www.larryjennings.com/jennings_up_in_smoke.htm) also contains it, I believe.

Also - I think these are clips from his video "Thoughts on Cards."

Great Videos of one of magic's greatest thinkers.

In magic Jennings was a King among men. He came from a different, more respectful time in magic. One where a person had to prove they were someone BEFORE they judged the handling and/or routine construction of another person. Hats off to one of the greatest sleight of hand artists/creative genius that magic has ever, or will ever, know. I would love to have seen all of the faceless "internet experts" in the actual presence of the man. Anyway, once again, here's to one of the greatest ever...it's terrible that the guys on that level are fading so quickly.

Incredible. Jennings was truly one of the masters.

I thought it was great, regardless of the flash. His timing was great! His free fall double too....beautiful. So natural. I would have loved to see him in his prime. I real nice touch indeed.
