When you perform bill in lemon, the bill usually comes out slightly damaged due to the acidic nature of the lemon juice. Most bills stay fine because of the quality of the paint, but they typically fade away. You end up with slightly faded money. It's better to use your own money for that.

I thought as long as you didn't deface the bill with intent to defraud someone it was legal. Just depends on the intentions of you action.

There is a webpage called wheresgeorge.com. You can track your paper money by joining the webpage and even recieving a rubber stamp that says wheres george to stamp your bills. This is not considersd defacing the bill and its done all the time.
