I am looking to buy a reel and was hoping someone could recommend one, I saw a clip of the hummingbird reel and it looks nice. All I am looking to do is have a silk fly from a table ten feet away and into my hand.
Any help appreciated. denis |

Going to get an electric reel, and was looking at the Hummingbird Reel by JK....It says that it uses nylon sewing thread which is about 1lb test line...Does anyone know what the strength of that line would be? Could you pick op coins, or is that too heavy of an object? Thanks for your help
Alan

Email Sean and ask him. http://www.seanbogunia.com Paulo |

But, it seems that when I try to lift something heavier than say a silk (which is apparently what it was created for) the thread tends to bind up and get tangled. The Hummingbird Reel works better with items that will catch the wind and seem to float or fly. Over all, the reel is very reliable and easy to palm and operate. There is a very small humming noise, so it may not work well for some close up situations. Other than the thread binding I have never had any trouble with mine. I don't use it a whole lot, but when I need that effect it works well. I have had it for about five years and am still using the original batteries. I hope this helps.
Thanks,

Magic Alaskan, yes, that one I had. A little larger than the 9-volt that powers it. Very well made. It is FAST, though! No control on the speed that I know of. I had a Kirkendall for years that I used, and understand it is being sold again!
