I'm looking for is tricks or ideas that may be modified or applied to horse racing.
The idea is to use such a thing in a gambling themed act. This is not meant to be a serious demo on betting the horses but more of a fun thing that some racing patter might be applied to. Patter may be about race horses, races ,the jockeys or whatever. Props might be a racing program, photos of horses, money and whatever else might relate to the subject. The routine could be mentalism or simply a funny or interesting tale with a bit of magic thrown in. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks, |

If you are interested in close-up card work with a race horse theme, there is an old old one called "The Texas Race Horse." The mechanics of it are very simple. Just uses a regular deck of cards. You use the cards to set up a race situation wherein you have 4 horses (cards) racing. You control who wins. PM if interested.

The first thing that popped into my head was torn and restored card with betting slips... you know, it appeared that one horse won, the better tears up his ticket, that horse is disqualified, now his is searching for pieced of this ticket, you get the idea.
You could also do some mentalism. Have audience pick the winners to a series of races, only to find that you had already circled all those horses in your Racing Forum. Or better yet, do that with an actual horse-race on television and show that you picked the actual winners. Of course the best effect for any gambling demonstration is vanishing money! Just brainstorming here, but I hope I can help to trigger your thinking. Dave |

I have been using the old Magician's force with racing forms winning ticket in a sealed envelope . It's easy but packs a big punch with the right story .
I have doing it for a while now and it works well.

Speaking about horce races, Ali Bongo had a routine with a similar name where people would play the old game where they had to seat on a chair when a ring bell was played by an audience member... the last to remain up, would win the race. A prize (kiind of cup) would be given to the pearson and inside it, was a prediction with the name of the pearson who would win the race...
