I'd like to stress that I am an exception to the commonplace: women getting into magic because their fathers, etc. were magicians.
I began magic when I was 6 years old. Yes, I did recieve a magic kit from my father as a christmas gift; however, it was due to my interest. I had seen many magicians on TV in the Chicago area and I was captivated! Now, being a 6-year-old, trying to muddle through the instructions on some of those effects, naturally, one would need help. My father would read tthe instructions and then help me to learn, in turn learning, himself. Now, 17 years have passesd, and I have been dually consumed with a passion for the theatre. I have moved on to stage magic and mentalism, and some close-up, but I primarily consider myself a stage magician. My father, is still doing magic as well, but with a primary focus in close-up. One could hear this and say that I am in magic because of my father, but it was my own desire to learn the art that started us on this most amazing journey. His involvement was that of fueling my dreams and supporting me, rather than continuing a family legacy. With that being said, here's one tick for a female magician who got her father started in magic!

I was introduced to it by an ex-boyfriend mentalist a few years ago who began to teach me with the classics (Corinda, Annemann) only after he was sure I was serious about learning and thought my acting experience might be an asset for me. I feel he was right in opening that door for me (though wrong on a lot of other things).
