Hello all,

I have a 3 week old ring neck dove that I am trying to tame, and it is very aggressive. I feel this is odd for a dove?

I am trying to hand feed it. It pecks my hand and hits me with it's wing!

It doesn't hurt, but it does startle me!

Any ideas on how to stop this?

At 3 weeks old, a dove doesn't have any idea what it is supposed to do and will be very nervous and flighty when you try to handle it. As a general rule, I wouldn't try to handle it that young. Let the parents do their thing for another few weeks and then began to get acquainted. Take your time and patience is a virtue.
