I think that large part of the process depends on your voice: how you say the induction, pauses, pitch varieties, hypnotic aura to your voice, etc. If a person reads a pre-made ericksonian pattern the chances are very low he will get into a heavy trance and start drifting. The pauses has to be heard, you can't just read them. There is also the problem of authority. You have to project authority in hypnosis and you must sound confident in your abilities as well. Otherwise people will think - I am not going to lose control because I read something, this can't be. But if they hear your voice and realize you are an experienced hypnosis pro, they will tend to surrender much easier.
I have a "suggestion" - before you try to hypnotize them with text only, try to link them to mp3 file when you do a pre-show talk. Maybe say it is taken from a real situation when you managed to hypnotize someone. Maybe it will increase your success rate.

I heard about it. How does it differ from Milton's books?

It is a stand alone great book with lots of insightful parts which are not covered as well elsewhere
AND all the NLP/Hypnosis people that I know who have read it say it is impossible to read without going into trance
I do too
Buy it, experience it and STUDY it
Comments welcome please
