Hi Yaniv:
This is a pamphlet rather than a book. Orville published it himself in 1961. It is 40 pages, soft cover, stapled. I feel it takes an experienced mentalist to pull it off. If Kenton Knepper was creating routines in the 60's, then, he would have devised the routine. Having had the distinct honor to have known Orville in the early '80s, I think it is fair to say it is unlike most of his other published effects. Here is an extract from Orville's publicity sheet that gives you a feel for what I have been talking about- "Telepath In Action! is different. never before described. Based on a principle never before applied in the entertainment field. No magical skills or principles involved. Only one real requirement for the performer: assurance, gained through experience in appearing before groups; the act is best presented by an older person." Hope this helps you decide.

Orville's pamplet is a classic. It was a classic demonstration of waking hypnosis w/o an induction.
It inspired me to wtite Suggestive Mentakiosm a limited issue monograph detailing blend of mind reading and hypnosis. Knepper's Kentonism which I'm currently reading is closer IMO to the Dr Q act from Ford |

Ford, your giving me dejavu, but I am glad that someone out there appreciates what Orville did. It is a shame that he never published a major book on mentalism that he was certainly capable of. It would have been a classic.

IMO, you guys should beg Ford Kross to sell you a copy of his Suggestive Mentalism. Ford's book is better than Telepathy in Action and is still available.

OK, here is a review of “Suggestive Mentalism” by Ford Kross.
Ford’s book is a small, concise treatise on a complete mentalism act that uses no props. The act includes reading the minds of the audience and having the audience read your mind. It concludes with you controlling the physical responses and actions of a couple of volunteers and some detailed mind reading. This act uses no stooges and is an act that Ford actually performs. Ford has also written two sequels to this book, which adapt the techniques to intimate groups. The concepts in this book are essential, if you want to break out of the ordinary mentalism tests, which are often boring even in the hands of the masters. Ford’s act works! On a limited basis. I'm very particular as to whom I sell it to. Purchasers require a good working knowledge of both mentalism and hypnosis. It is a major part of my working act. I'm not afraid of competition. But I get a good price ($125) for a slim booklet and want to make saure it's appreciated

Re: Telepathy in Action:
I once saw Kreskin on a TV show pull off Orville Myers 'Telepathy in Action' with great effect. Mike Douglass was offering the spectators $50 if they could put their ring on their finger, to no effect. ON top of that the spectators could not write their name until Kreskin allowed them to. Derren Browns creative TV shows had spots in it that reminded me very much of Kreskins performance albiet using two different methods. Orville's Psychic series Pamphlet's were equally brilliant. If you can find them, grab them up. As someone said, it does take big Cojones to pull Telepathy in action off, but is very, very strong and no props needed at all. I have not seen Ford's booklet but have heard great things about it. Ford is very maticulous about his work and eveything I have seen of his so far is well thought out.

Well, Ford, as a beginner I'm nowhere near ready for your book yet, but I'd sure like to know it'll be available when I am.
At this point, I'm about due to reread Psychological Subtleties. When I first read it last year, I was too new to get more than minor benefit from it. This next time through I should be able to grasp and use a much better percentage. |

Ford's "Suggestive Mentalism" and Meyer's "Telepathy in Action" are very close to the real thing. However, as others have said, you need to have confidence in your ability and performing experience to use the ideas..but they are killers.
I have these items and can vouch for their effectiveness. John Smetana |

Wow!
I got this booklet one week ago and that is what i have to say about it. Every couple of years or so i discover some principle that blows my mind. In the past it was Mnemonics,Two person codes, psychological forces,Georgia Magnet effects and even phone mentalism Etc... Like you problely notice all of those are prop-less.that is the best thing about them. And now comes this stuff. So what is all about? It deals with suggestion and waking hypnosis but on a very advance level. Here are some of the things that you may be able to do after reading this booklet. People touch your hand with theirs yet at your command they loose ability to lift their hand from your palm. Everyone sits in a chair, at your command nobody CAN STAND even though they try hard and struggle. At your command and without the aid of gimmicked chairs or secret whispers, you cause members of the audience to feel electric shots and to jump up from the pain. You throw thoughts into people's minds so that they can't correctly name the color shirt they are wearing. If the guy has on a blue shirt, he will say it's RED!. As Meyer said in the end: "This book contains one of the most unusual and incredible secrets in existence. Only a few will understand. Still fewer will apply it. This is as it should be." I now wonder what will come next on my way... Yaniv Deautsch Ps.Just to make you envy, not only it is signed,it cost me only 20$! {From H and R magic books, the best dealers in the world} |

...after reading all those lines Mr. Ormond M.G. pops into my mind. Are those waking hypnosis stuns as they are - or is this a clever mix of pseudo-hypnosis stunts and mentalism-stunts?
