In this day an age, with people striving to find the best ‘new effect’ or best way to amaze spectators, they look to the future and the new effects coming out, they don’t think to look to the past. For years I was told, “read Annemann and Corinda”, of course at first I declined thinking that it was all dated, and there would be nothing of use in there, but when I finally sat down and read them…boy did I feel foolish.

Along with putting those books off, I also long put off learning readings, deciding they were the devil and that my audience would never be interested in them. With so many people out there saying they could talk to the dead and tell the future, I wanted nothing to do with it. But then get out and perform, and time will go by where people ask you about it, and so I started doing some simple ‘readings’ about the person they’d be thinking of, or the place they’d be imaging themselves in.

Now after years of studying readings, I feel there are two ways of presenting a ‘reading’. You can go full out and be providing people advice and guidance on their life, which I have nothing against if you know what you are doing, and understand the consequences of what you are telling people, or the way I am more comfortable with which is to provide a character profile of a person.

What I quickly realised was that I wasn’t effecting peoples view on life, or encouraging them to make life changing decisions, I was engaging with them on an emotional level, a level other people will rarely meet them at. So to be the first person who has probably ever spoken to them on this level, you are not ever going to be forgotten. To provide them with the experience, they will feel so attached to you that you could show them anything at this point and they will show you a much higher degree of appreciation. What you are doing is setting up a connection (which I feel goes beyond a rapport) with this person because you really are doing the most incredible effect you ever could with them.

The choices of books and techniques out there for learning readings are endless, so obviously it’s a struggle to decide which to choose and to focus on. Having read Ian Rowland’s wonderful book Full Facts early on, I was armed with ways to get a LOT out of revealing the ‘something’- someone was thinking of, etc. I then turned to the works of Richard Webster. Webster’s systems are in a league of their own, and his work on Palmistry was what I first learned and was the primary and only reading system I used.

Having studied many reading systems, my favourite has always been Palmistry and have always had amazingly accurate hits with it. For me, I always felt it specific enough (because I have added my own findings to it over time), and when used on other people, with intuition, I never failed to give what I considered to be incredibly accurate readings. That was until I read Jim Callahan’s ‘Lo Shu’ package.

I opened the package read the book while giving myself a reading. It, quite simply, scared me. Unlike other books out there this didn’t have any ‘filler’ lines, it was right to the point, and what’s more incredible is that the points it was making were the right ones. It was spot on.

The Lo Shu book itself is so simple to understand, there is no messing about. There is the history of the system, the teaching of how to draw the square for anyone’s date of birth, and then how to interpret the square.

The teaching is direct and to the point, but most importantly it is easy to understand and follow, something I was very thankful for. After giving a number of readings for friends and family, you will start to remember the meanings, and it’s easy enough to fill in the blanks, so a few days of study of this will allow you to pick it up.

The second book in the course is Intelligent Redesign. Here you will learn the exact way Mr Callahan uses this which I think is wonderful for beginners to this system, or any system, as you will be provided with what you need to get out and do it straight away.

Personally, his routine wasn’t for me (because I don’t use cards), but that’s not the point, he is showing you how to make this an engaging, educational and entertaining experience for not only the participant you are giving the reading to, but also for everyone watching to understand it. So you could do any routine that suits you, and add power to it using Lo Shu.

He has also touched on some fantastic marketing ideas for ensuring people keep your flyer. I don’t want to say too much, however this will ensure that people show their friends your promotional material and get talking about you. On top of that, he actually gives you his actual promotional material allowing you to use it as you wish. These are easily edited and printed off allowing you to dive right in and begin giving readings professionally.

What I enjoyed most about this full system is that the presentation is aimed towards a psychological profile of the person, it’s not a psychic reading or anything spiritual, so it’s very light as far as belief systems go, however it is still as hard hitting as those readings would be.

By the end of these two books you will not only know the system, you will know how to do it, and how to do it well. You’ll also be taught how to deal with sceptics, and which sorts of people to avoid. Add to this Mr Callahan’s wonderful promotional material and you simply can’t go wrong as far as setting up a nice little living for yourself goes. It’s not only a wonderful read, but a wonderful feeling of astonishment.

As far as systems go, if this one isn’t accurate for you, I’d be very surprised. It would be far to easy, and is rather tempting, to discuss all the readings I’ve given, and hit’s I’ve received, so instead I’ll focus on one of my favourites.

I was giving a reading for my girl friend’s mum who is a very reserved lady. She had a specific sequences of lines stating she was outgoing (which is completely untrue), unless combined with another sequence of numbers. Sure enough she had this sequence of numbers. There were gasps. I don’t know if that was just luck, or the strength of the system at work, so I will leave it to you to decide.

For those of you looking to just get the Lo Shu book to impress friends and family reading them from the book, then definitely just buy the individual book, however if you are looking to use this professionally, or just for getting the most from it, you cannot go wrong investing in the full package. If you do what you are taught to do, you can rest assured you will continue amazing people with this, and make money from doing it, for a long time to come.

Thank-you Colin for the fine review.I have been interested in adding Reading's to my overall performance,however,I would not feel comfortable giving giving more traditional readings utilizing Tarot,Palmistry,Aura(with the exception of pendulum's) etc.

This is not to say that there is anything wrong with more traditional Reading formats.They just do not fit me personally.

I have alway's been fascinated with Pendulum dowsing.Does anyone who has Mr. Callahan's system,supplement with or incorporate pendulum dowsing and or ESP card reading with the Intellegent Redesign System?

It is good to see so many guys getting the difference between this and other systems.
(It has taken about a year)
Personally the mystic traditional type reading was not compatible to my performance style either.
(I am not knocking other types of reading just stating personal preference for the type of places I work and how I work)
Personally I do not care for cold reading and with the product you purchased you can always be dead on if you choose to be.

I like solid proof types of presentations.

I do have the new ESP Card Reading System from Alan Strydom and think it is very good.
And would recommend it to anyone.

I think it would be a bit difficult to incorporate the ESP card reading into the presentation however.

This is mainly due to Artificial Redesign being a complete system & presentation unto itself.

I have however been playing with Alan's ESP card work and have made some headway in changing it into something a little more psychology/sociological based. If I am successful in this I can see were it would be very possible to do both at the same event without a discrepancy in the continuity of the overall performance.

This is what I was thinking.A Lo Shu presentation,followed up with a Pendulum dowsing demo with BOR pendulum sales.

Pendulum dowsing should be an easy fit in it's basic form...Allowing the client to be able to answer their own questions after they leave.

I use both Lo Shu and a Pendulum in my walk around work. I won't say too much about my handlings and presentations for a pendulum, needless to say they both go hand in hand as the reading is psychological as is the motion of the pendulum.

I just wanted to add that this is a fantastic system!

I do not perform readings professionally as I am a magician, but I did get this system for a variety of reasons, both to handle people that believe in the paranormal(as as skeptic I dislike converstations about it so its much better to do the reading and then let them talk about the reading than get into some arguement about "Ghost Hunters" on Sci-Fi), as well as to use in other situations where there is dead time to fill, since the "performance" can go as long as you have people, as well as with absolutly nothing but a pen, some paper and your mind.

So I have to say, even as a sleight of hand magician that doesn't perform professional readings, I have gotten way more than my moneys worth out of this in so many different situations.

If you are attentive to other people, you will be suprised how many oppertunities arise to use such a system and even more suprised at the results. It gives you an entirely new way to relate to people both professionally as well as in random interpersonal situations. Learning both the reading system as well as the presentation to turn this into something people really want to watch is worth gold.

What I've also found interesting is doing it for three people at the same time (I wouldn't recommend doing it for anymore?) and they all clearly see the differences and they can all see that everything being told is specific to them and their friends. Very rarely will anything be the same and when it is you can discuss that this is why they connect as friends, etc...

My initial interest in Jim's "Lo-Shu" package came from my desire to find an alternative reading system that didn't rely on perceived spirits or psychic ability and could be used primarily with corporate clients. I have used palmistry in the past but have found that it is still widely considered a mystical art along with Tarot in many social and professional circles. Numerology, on the other hand, is seen more as a "mathematical" exercise that no corporate client would object to. After all, what do businesses love more than crunching numbers? This search eventually led me to Jim's "Intelligent Redesign" package. While this package has already been thoughtfully reviewed here by Colin and others, I simply wanted to add my humble voice to the choir.

First of all, I believe that Jim's "Lo-Shu" package is rare in the fact that it provides you with an entire system for readings. This is not simply a clever effect, a grocery list of linguistic deceptions, or a few cold reading ideas; this is virtually everything you will need from start to finish. Throw in a dozen #2 pencils and a trip to Kinko's and you are ready to roll.

In addition, the readings are specific, direct, and can be done out in the "open" unlike many other reading systems that use the same stock words or phrases during every reading. In fact, any cold reading improvisation that you might be tempted to do using this system will probably only lead you astray.

The bottom line is that every reading system has its own inherent audience. Some performers may believe that this system is too simplistic or is too automated to be effective, and it just might be if your audience is expecting to hear from the spirits on the other side. Then again, if you are not aware of your audience's expectations ahead of time, any reading system is bound to fail. The value of the "Intelligent Redesign" system is that it fills a niche that few other reading systems can. I could not imagine doing a corporate seance any more than I could imagine using a magic square at a Halloween party. For me It's simply a matter of having the right tool for the job.

LO SHU system is an entire system for readings, from A to Z and, as Jim himself says, it is different from other systems. And different for good!

Question for those who own Intelligent Redesign:

It’s possible to obtain same effect of deception if the script is translated to a “Romance Language”? (French, Spanish, Italian or so)

Based on product description and comments ("Psychology and audience compliance strategies", "a grocery list of linguistic deceptions") seems that some NLP techniques are used.

Asking it because based on my experience translation of NLP scripts from English to a “Romance Language” don't shows same result, at least with hypnosis.

The package is not a "script" so I would say it would translate fine into a variety of languages.
