Hi guys,
Recently my ambitions in balloon modelling have increased 10 fold after seeing some amazing models. As a challenge (after 6 months of twisting), I want to see I I can build a scale (roughly) model of a car!!! The car I was thinking of was a standard ford focus. I am going to this a go, even I fail miserably, I will learn something. I know that there are a lot of great twisters on this forum, so my question is: Do you have any tips for me? Things like how to get the car to sit on the tyres or something similar. I am not under estimating the trickiness of this project, but who dares wins! I'll try n keep a picture diary so you can track my progress (if you want). Cheers, Ali

This is an ambitious project the first time out and I wish you much success. If you have not worked really big before, I would highly recommend that you check out David Grist's video BALLOON MODELLING VOLUME 9: The Big Stuff, available in the UK directly from http://www.davidgrist.com/ or in the US from T. Myers at http://www.tmyers.com/video/grist.html#8
It has two different cars on it as well as the techniques that you will need to accomplish your goal. You should also stick with the larger 350 gauge balloons, or perhaps even 646 from Qualatex. They last longer and are sturdier than the smaller 260's. And stay away from transparent colors (citrine yellow, mandarin orange, ruby red). The non-transparent, or standard, colors (red, orange, blue, lime green) look better and tend to be stronger and longer lasting. You can also check out some really intense balloon weaving at http://www.nikoloon.com/twister.htm and http://mihec.balloonhq.com/ And if you just need some inspiration, got to http://balloonmanor.com and see what 65 motivated balloon artists recently accomplished. Good luck. I can't wait to see the photos!

Thank you for the kind words of encouragement.
I started the other day on a wheel and I went hidiously wrong to say the least. I am beginning to think that the project was perhaps a little too ambitious. I have seen someof your work DVD's Don, and I think I will invest in them first. Until now my biggest project has been a monkey on a palm tree using 4 balloons. Thanks again for the website links. When I give this ago in the future I'll be sure to use the 360's Thanks, Ali
