Does anyone know if this example would work -
A Sure brand wireless receiver and a Sennheiser brand wireless mic working on the same frequency? Can you mix and match brands of mics and receivers as long as they are the same frequency? |

Yeah, it often tends to work. But, it would be best to ask a pro or the people you are buying from because if they don't work, they may not give a refund.

There are many set ups that encode the audio at the transmitter end (the mic) and require it to be decoded at the receiver end.
Although you may get a signal, if there's companding or any other sort of processing being done, you're going to get "bad audio" by mixing brands that handle the audio processing differently. Although there are some wireless brands that can work in an emulation mode (Lectrosonics with Sennheiser), it's really not a good idea to try and mix and match otherwise. |

Silverking is right on the money! Without getting too technical, each brand uses processing, and sometimes a sort of a "fingerprint", neither of which would match a same-frequency device from another manufacturer.
Lectrosonic stuff does "emulate" in order to work with other brands, but it's in an entirely different league from the wireless that Café users discuss. Good luck, Aaron!
