I've been to Tannen's many, many times. This isn't a post about whether or not Tannen's is great, or whether it's different than it used to be.

I want to know whether there is any other shop worth checking out in any of the 5 boroughs of Manhattan - I am willing to take the subway if necessary.

Thoughts?

Fantasma is actually at 7th and 33rd. It's right over Sbarro's pizza. Nice shop to hang out in, I'm in there just about every day after work.

There's also Rogue's up in Queens, but I've not been there myself.

Tannens is right next to Victoria's Secret and Fantasma is above a peep show. Coincidence? I think not.
While Tannens is a shade of what it used to be the help there is freindly and at least this bunch will talk to you. they also have a nice selection of stuff you won't find in your average shop. Almost bought a set of their Al Baker style rice bowls as you don't see these ever day. Unless of course you work at Tannens.
Fantasma, well worth the visit especially to look at their high end stuff. Not everyday you get to see a $1800.00 ball vase.
I still regret never getting to go to Flossos shop.

good shop...they even have a movie theatre in it.

prices are outrageous, until you make it known that you're a magician...not just a tourist.

Not to be rude, but has Tannen's improved since I made my rant about their not having 18" dye tubes or sponge balls?

"Magic" magazine still isn't listing Tannen's as a place to get their magazine. I discovered this after buying a copy of "Genii" and being told that Tannen's couldn't sell me a copy of "Magic" because they were all "sold out."
"There's no time to lose," I heard her say.
"Catch your dreams before they slip away."
"Dying all the time, lose your dreams and you could lose your mind.
Ain't life unkind?"
