Can anyone tell me about the M5? I saw it on ellusionist.com and I have a Raven, and have been performing magic for 2 and a half years. Would anyone recommend it?

I bought an m5 the other week. I recieved it and have been playing with it for a cople of weeks; and truthfully Im dissapointed. Not too clean of a illusion, and by the way the things work ( without revealing the secret), the spectator (unless utterly stupid) knows what is going on. Although I have found it to be a waste of cash and a stupid bulky gimmick if you're going to wear it; it does have some good uses; i.e stopping watches. This is just what I think, everyone has their own oppinion, just giving you my input.

The M5 is geared more towards PK effects, meaning that you can move stuff on a table of make a coin flip in someone's hand. If you use it for vanishes, I think that you have a 98% chance of getting busted. There are better devices for vanishing things especially if you do a vanish from a spectators hand. The Black Widow is the best in my opinion for in hand vanishes/switches. I have an M5 and a barely use it now. I'll sell it to you for $50

I have to agree. I found the M5 incredibly bulky and uncomfortable. Good call on the being busted for vanishes. I got more than a few raised eyebrows. With that being said, it's definitely a killer idea in theory, and if it suits your needs and performing style, then you may actually enjoy it.

Thanks for the offer Ralph, but if it's big and bulky no thanks, I hardly like having a Raven on me.

I agree, it is more for PK effects than vanishes.

What do you think is better for PK?
INVISIBLE THREAD, LOOPS OR M5? thanks |

I've never (fingers crossed) been busted for PK stuff with the M5, probably because I use non-metallic objects 99% of the time. I don't use loops but IT isn't good for all lighting conditions, the M5 is.

Good for PK effects especially moving objects on a table with your hands nowhere near the object moving, but like Ralph and NYillusionist say sometimes it can get you busted and it is bulky. Also this thing is really powerful be careful where you set it!!!

This is really in the wrong section because as you can tell from the responses, the best use of M5 is while seated at a table. In that setting, this can be an awesome tool. I have the predecessor, UltraK and I think it's about twice the size but not as strong due to the nature of the material available at the time. The size has never been an issue to me as I use it (actually, them. I use two stacked) under the table. Definitely works best with non-metallic objects that have been covertly gaffed and switched in.

I've been using the M5 for about 2 years. Tables are the best way, don't try wearing it. My best trick is to flip a coin over in the palm of my hand without the slightest muscular movement, for some reason the reactions are even better than when I move objects from side to side.
My worst is to accidentally destroy my credit cards after the banks shut before the weekend. |
