I was wondering what cheap card trick ($10 bucks and under) that you think is just wonderful. Mine was B'wave (found it somewhere for about $10), it's the greatest and so easy to perform once you get the presentation of it down. But I also found something sorta similar, even cheaper (about $5 bucks) once called "Choose Your Queen." The same effect somewhat but presented a bit differently that provides more options. It's a great cheap card trick too. How about you, what's your favorite?

Well, I don't have it but a lot of people will go for the Color Monte.
I prefer Skinner's 3 card monte. I think it costed me $12 or so. Frans |

Don't forget about this really cool trick called Misprint. It's a sweet visual piece of card magic that's only $10!
Okay yeah maybe I'm a little bit biased. Your friend in magic, Luke Dancy |

I'm not one who feels good about carrying packet tricks, that look like regular playing cards, in a wallet. If I can remove them from a regular deck then fine. But that's me.
For that reason I like Color Monte I don't see many for $10 or under but here's a couple I like: Jeff Pierce's "Ani-Matrix" http://www.jeffpiercemagic.com/animatrix.html Coins are printed on the cards and assemble. You should like this M. Bob King's "Print Shop" (no longer available) Blank cards turn into four real cards. I liked this because I was in the printing industry. |

Tommy Wonder's Wild Card is absolutly amazing, you actually show all the cards change, as well as their backs.

Nick Trost's 8 Card Brainwave...Can be made up with 4 red backed cards and 4 blue backed cards. I think that is really inexpensive and a really easy , neat effect..

The effect is the important thing, how you achieve it is not.......

Rennie, that's about as cheap as you can get for a card effect.

Excellent suggestions! 8 Card Brainwave, Card Warp, Wild Card, Skinner's 3 Card Monte, and B' Wave. All great (cheap) tricks.

I'd say 8 Card Brainwave hands down! Its virually FREE! Just take the cards from your old decks that you're about to throw away. Okay £28 for Nick's book - but its a mine of information. Probably works out at about £1 for 8CBW!

I like 8 Card Brainwave, but nowhere as much as B'wave. Also, Phil J mentioned "Card Warp"...Great trick, and cheap, cheap, cheap. Good call on that one.

Is Tommy Wonder's Wild Card described in the "Books of Wonder"?

I'd have to put my vote in for Skinner's Ultimate 3 Card Monte.

I have to agree with Luke Dancy on Misprint. I've had too much fun with that effect. I also want to give a nod to Jaz for mentioning Jeff Pierce's Animatrix. This is one of those card tricks that is right up my alley and I love it!
When I was last in Vegas I bought four different packet tricks by Nick Trost that were all great and under $10. Also, one of my personal favorites is a trick called "Done With Mirrors" that is based on the Cascade handling. A great trick that I picked up in a magic shop in Chicago for all of $4! I need to buy another as I've worn this one out! |
