I was just practicing the Ninja ring crash link when someone walked by and watched for a while. I'm not ready yet, but I decided to do a demo with the rings. I did a passable odin count to show four separate rings and then went to do a crash link.
"One" "Two" "Three" But I botched the link. It just didn't go. I tried again and this time succeeded. I then did a block link and then another. By the time I had finished I had three folks looking into my cube and watching. One guy just wants to know how things are done guessed that the springs were spring loaded and required hitting the rings together at just the right spot with the right pressure to get them to open. The first botched link was because I didn't hit them together hard enough. I found his reaction really interesting and the botched link turned into a good thing. I got lucky. I'm going to practice more at home. I think I might get another set so that I can swap out the key ring. My friend was itching to get his hands on the rings and it would have fried him for me to give him the rings to play with when he asked for them.

Marty,
Now you understand better than most why I frequently contend that good magic is the result of well rehearsed mistake. Good luck with it! Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

I do a rope through neck. I find the longer I go, and the more false starts and repositioning I do, the better the reaction I get. Try stopping and rubbing your temples a bit before you go on. It will make it look like a concentration issue and not a mechanical one.
