What is the most deceptive and the cleanest center deal that you know? And please if you have sources where to find them, let me know. I'm struggling to copy Turner's middle deal, but I don't really know the exact technique. Trying though...
Kim P.S. same with the Greek, the best you know? I use Andrew Wimhurst's. It is okay, but I am curious about others too... |

Marlo has some nice techniques published in of course, "Seconds, Centers, Bottoms" (Revolutionary Card Technique), and New Tops Magazine around 1975 which would mean they are in M.I.N.T. Vol II also. Marlo Magazine 5 and The Unexpected Card Book.

The best center deal is the one that perfectly matches the motion of your top, second, and bottom deal. I use Mario center deal outlined in RCT since I use a master grip. As Mr. Molinari mentioned, Marlo outlines many nice techniques in the "Seconds, Centers, and Bottoms" portion of RTC, and would highly recommend that as a starting point.

Definitely check out Marlo for he was great with all kinds of false deals he is my favourite cardician that ever lived period in my eyes. Just like Jimmy Molinari stated check out second, center, and bottoms many great variations of this wonderful deal as well as the unexpected card book.
To answer your question as far as what is the most deceptive center deal that I know I would not hesitate to say that Richard Turner's to be the far best along with Allan Ackerman as well, I use the same deals as these two great card men, the Marlo center is a great and wonderful deal although there is a slight get ready. The greek bottom deal can be found in Ed Marlo the Legend dvd you'll be amazed at the beauty of this deal as Eddie demonstrates it flawlessly. I hope this helps you out good luck and keep practicing. Thank you very much for your replies. EMVT, the Turner deal, is that the one taught in the Vernon tapes? The one where you keep the break with your first finger..? I have understood that the Robinson greek is one of the best, eventhough it is not published. I have only seen Mr Ortiz perform it and I really liked it except the long get ready. Are there deals in Marlo's "Seconds, Centers and Bottoms" which you don't need a get ready to be able to perform? And I always refer to deals concerning the table, not for magic. Thank you again.
kind regards, Kim ps. just remembered, what method for centers is it that Mr Ortiz/Doc use? |

I use the same method as my teacher Ed Marlo uses. Study his videos and figure it out.

For me the best center deal I saw was Marlo's Center Deal from his Second Centers & Bottom chapters in the RCT Book. As far as greek deal the one that Marlo does for the Multiple Minus Bottom effect is the best for me.
I also like the Greek deal Alan Ackerman performs an teaches in his Advanced Card Control series volume 2 (False dealing). Best Regards Pablo

I also do a version of the center deal that can be found in Martin Nash's Charming Cheat series vol 5. In this version of the center deal.. the slug of cards to be dealt comes from the bottom of upper half of the deck rather than the top of the lower half of the deck.

I was practising the other night and reading through Marlo's RCT and I found several center deals, specially one handed, stud and regular. By far I think the best center deal in the book is the Mario's center deal.
For the other ones you need to keep the fingers in ackward positions and the take of the card is not natural at all. I've been trying for some days the weakloing's center deal and the grip is too ackward, kind of like a modified erdnase gripo but crumpsy. For the ones that have practised and get down the mechanics of the Mario's center deal in RCT, would you recommend that deal for someone who uses the Master Grip Take second and a Master Grip strike bottom deal??? Does it look alike with these deals? Best Regards Pablo

The weakness of the Marlo center is the slight visible rotation/jog at the front left of the deck; however, this can be minimized, and I have found that the overall dealing motion clearly follows the second and bottom deals. This aspect is very important to me, and is clearly one of the great benefits of the Marlo master grip dealing techniques (as Marlo mentions in RTC). Also, even though I use a strike second and bottom, I slightly push out the center card when dealing, as suggested by Marlo. I find that this minimizes the amount of overhang required to keep the break. Best of luck, and I'm glad to see another follower of Marlo's techniques.

Thanks a lot Daniel, I'll just have to start practising this center deal. As I went through the book last night I found the descriptions of the Mario's center deal not as clear as I expected to be, so I have some problems understanding the whole mechanic's.
I think the same way as you do, I really like the Master Grip becouse of the very same reason Marlo mentions in his second centers and bottoms, about the consistency in the grip and the take of all those deals so that they look all the same. Another thing I wanted to ask you daniel is if I recall correctly the Mario's center deal is based on a step of the top packet to the right isn't it? I asked about what was the overall of that deal becouse of this very same thing about if the step or brief was noticed from the front. Thanks again and I'll keep practising that deal Best Regards Pablo

Pablo,
Yes, Marlo's center is based on a step. I also had some trouble regarding the description of Marlo's center deal in RCT. The explanation on Marlo's Cardician DVD and seeing him do the deal cleared things up for me. |

Hi Jaybs, I've seen Marlo perform t he center deal but let me correct yourself, It's in his Legend DVD instead of the Cardician. I've seen this deal but all in all I didn't like the fact of sticking out cards on the right of the deck sticking out and the fact that from the front the step is noticed.
I'm working on the Marlo's Weakling center deal, I'm getting used to the modified Erdnase grip, and pushing off cards from the center, I can push off up to two cards dealing the square right now, then I loose control o fthe break, but It's just time until I get the mechanics down and start doing it wright. Best Regards Pablo

Hello Kim,
The best center deal I know involves using chi gung. You see, with it, you don't have to break or anything of the sort. You simply project chi into the card (for example when it is on the bottom), then, when it's cut by anybody, all you need to do is to find the chi. Naturally, this takes a lot more work than it sounds, but once mastered, it's oh so fun to do. In fact, everytime I do it, I feel utterly amazed. And perhaps that's the secret. Because I love being a cardsharp so, it's fully in my and in my blood, thus, it is totally genuine with me, and therefore natural. As for the chi gung part, well, being a chi gung master with a lifetime of practice in that field certainly helps. Sure, there's lots of truly great centers out there, but, you asked for the best, and really, there's nothing that can beat this simply because it is so soft, subtle, pure, and in the moment. Practice, practice, practice, and once the speed is the same as any top, well, that's when magic happens. Love, Lily of the Valley |

Doesn't the Dai Vernon revelations DVD show a nice center deal? I thought I read that somewhere. Can anyone confirm that?

Yes in fact Dai Vernon revelations volume 12 o 13 I think Dai vernon demonstrates and explains the Kennedy Center Deal. From my point of view the grip of that center deal is pretty ackward and not natural at all becouse the to pcard is nver pushed off and the take is pretty ackward too.
Best regards Pablo
