Re-read Greg's post Christopher, this technology cannot be used to "stop" piracy.
First off, you could still manually drop the frames, unless the code is in the timing in which case you would have to drop multiple frames or otherwise re-encode the video. Secondly, even though Greg can refuse to sell to the "pirate", there is nothing legally that can be done as the person could have very well legally sold "stuck" to someone else in a non-US law abiding country who then leaked it. Finally, there is nothing stopping someone from watching the download, then recording a *very* detailed explanation and uploading it to youtube, as legally they haven't done anything wrong.... Sorry for hijacking the thread into piracy stuff, but everyone needs to stop looking for some amazing technology that will stop piracy and start spending time on something useful, at least imho. |

Ok, I didn't misread, just mis-wrote what I meant. With the Watermarking feature, Greg can see who has sold their copy on, or shared it around. Not everyone Pirates, so if the people who pirate things are stopped by some means, there will be less pirating

This is fantastic. A terrific trick which can be adapted for many, many presentations. The vanish is excellent. I'm not usually one to say, a must buy, but for only $10, this is a must buy (if you like coin magic, that is). The vieo is excellent and very in depth.
BTW, as far as I can tell, you can do this w/ half dollars although it's probably easier with a quarter.

I also got it yesterday, and although it will take some work to get the moves down, like any effect, it is very clean looking, and I'm looking forward to performing it!

Hello friends,
First, I have to once again thank everyone for the kind words . . . you guys have made me and my wife very happy over the last few days. I have to ask your opinion about something. How many people on the Café are more willing to buy a DVD in contrast to a video download. I think I'm going to put out STUCK! on DVD next week, so I just wanted to know what you all think about that? And, I'm going to sell the DVD with the download, so when someone orders the DVD they can watch the download before they get their product. What do you think about that? And how much do you think the STUCK! DVD should sell for? thank you for your input, Greg Rostami |

Greg, the demo looks great... for 10$ I bought it instantly.
Dude, you need a bigger pipe. This download is coming so slow (I have a 16Mb downline) that it hurts. Looks like it arrived.. I'll be back! |

Greg is a natural teacher. He has the ability to make you trust you can do it. Not a lot of downloaders project that confidence, and it's important. The method, the effect, and the teacher -- all first rate.

Greg, for a download and a dvd, I personally think $25 would be appropriate. Any more than that and I think people would want the option of buying one or the other separately. I know I would as $25 is about my personal limit for impromptu one trick dvds.
Having said that, would those of us who have purchased the download be able to purchase the dvd for a slightly lower price? I would love to have this on disc.

Dvd and download is great but I believe $25 for one effect is a little too much. You can always see what the market is willing to bear.

I like the instant download and don't feel the need to have a DVD as well. If you're concerned about losing the file, make a backup (you should do that as a matter of good practice with all your computer files). Greg, keep the downloads and forget the DVDs. Well... that's my 2 cents worth

Hi Steve,
I agree with you . . . it's just that I KNOW that there are people that would rather have their purchase on something SOLID. I'm just trying to get a feel for HOW many people would be interested in having that solid DVD disc. It's kind of like a "paid for" backup solution. I'm still a little on the fence about the DVD release, but I am leaning more to the DVD then not. Love, Peace, and GREAT MAGIC, Greg Rostami |

Hey greg, I bought stuck yesterday, and you can;t beat it for the price. I say keep on the downloads. I might be bias as I don't own a tv and use my pc for everything including watching dvds. I think it might keep the cost down too? if it was more I prolly would not have bought it cause of other things on my "list" so to speak. (now that I have, it would have been on the list had I known =)) great work tho. I'm looking forward to more coin work from you!

Well for people with go slow computers like myself (dial up) getting the download is not really a realistic option, anything over 9mb takes an age and then of course the dreaded disconnection! lol in rural Ireland we still cant get broadband(high speed) shame!
All the best, Pete |

Greg,
Just like the reason I didn't buy COSMOS from you, in your words, I "want something solid". I waited for COSMOS to be released onto a DVD but it never was and I refused to buy anything with DRM embedded in it. What I want is something I can watch on my computer (downstairs) or on my set box DVD player (upstairs), etc. Something that I don't have to worry about a site going off-line or or a download file getting wiped off my hard drive. And, being on a DVD, it will be playable on my set box player so that I don't have to be stuck sitting in front of my computer screen. If you want to see the controversy that is stirring up over copy-protected material on magic downloads, take a look at the Wesley James controversy ( http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......;forum=2 ) here on the Café. I am very hesitant to buy anything that I can not resell if I don't like it. (at least I can cut my losses somewhat if I can resell it). I will sometimes reluctantly buy a downloadable .pdf files but I don't like doing so because it is so hard to re-sell them after viewing and because I don't like being locked into sitting in front of my computer reading a 90 page manuscript. Additionally, a .pdf file's initial cost is not the end of the cost. Add in the cost of paper, ink and binding (plus you own time) and you quickly approach the cost of a bound manuscript. I am much more likely to buy a downloadable video file because most video files can be more easily converted to a permanent item (DVD or VCD) playable on a set box player if converted using simple authoring conversion software. But again, I don't like having to be locked into my computer to watch a video or to read a book. So, in answer to your question, I would like to see a DVD of Stuck be released. Cost for a single effect DVD? I can't say. It all depends on the production quality of the video and the depth of coverage within the video. Is it a 10 minute "wham-bam; thank you 'mam" type of video or is it an in-depth 40 minute long exploration of all facets of an effect? Impossible to speculate on a price. Suffice it to say that I'd by happier paying $30.00-35.00 for multiple effect DVD (like L&L videos) than I would to pay $20.00 for a single trick or single move DVD. Hope that info helps. Mike

I think the wave of the one trick DVD's is disturbing. A download, for $10 +/- makes sense. I don't know about "Stuck", but MANY one trick DVD's should have been part of a 6-10 effect DVD that showcased other effects. Look at the multiple quality effects that you get for $30 - $35 on a Lennart Green, Greg Wilson, Johnny Thompson, Tommy Wonder, Curtis Kam, etc., etc, DVD. They didn't try to sell off each trick but decided to combine them with other strong material.
This trend seems to be happening with coins, cards, paper money and even sleights! Can you imagine the value of some of the great old books if the author sold off sleights for $10.00 each??? Greg, I appreciate the business side, but you have already mentioned "numerous" other effects that you'll be releasing this year. Have you considered a full length DVD with multiple effects, that you could charge $35.00 for. Joe Rindfleish comes to mind as a coin DVD with tons of good coin info on a DVD. Either way, best of luck. Mike |

What's the difference between the download and the dvd version? If it's just the dvd, I don't think you should charge a $15 premium on a $2 blank dvd. Unless you consider that accompanying the dvd with the download is like buying two products, but as mentioned before, I figure most people would buy one or the other.

I got burned on COSMOS, so I can't support this new offering, no matter how good it may be.
Customer service is #1 in any business. I'm forgiving if I get burned and then it's corrected. With me it never was. Chris

I got great service in regards to COSMOS and didn't care whether it came out in a DVD or not so I can't comment on that issue. I enjoyed Greg's OOTW variation and purchased STUCK! based on my previous purchase experience with him.
I've Had STUCK! for a few days now and have given it a lot of practice. It's not that difficult at all to get down if you put in the time. I suppose that some familiarity with managing a coin is helpful but I can also see that this could be well managed by a novice as well with a bit more effort and dedication. I've performed it for my friends only as I really don't have my patter lines refined as of yet to venture into the arena of unknown spectators. So far I've gotten nothing but wide open eyes and friends looking at each other wondering what to say other than "where the heck is the coin". I'm really liking that vanish a lot Greg. I too have plans beyond this particualr routine for it but I digress. You've got a real nice effect Greg and for my money I, once again, got more that I paid for with your product. Thanks for sharing it and taking the time to so thoroughly explain every detail about it. Both video and routine are very well done sir. peace, charlie |
