I have an Anchor Liberty and I need to know what size speaker stand to get. (The last one I got was too big to fit in the hole) Can anybody help me out? Anchor has one (Model ss-550) that goes with it, but I'd like to look around for a cheaper one if I can.

You have a set of Anchor Liberty speakers and you want to go with cheap stands? I'm not sure whether the holes in speakers are of a standard size, but on the web I found a company called americalmusical.com who has several speaker stands for less money.

Just check something. I had to do this with the first set of speaker stands I bought. The upright pole may come out completely and turn round. One end is fatter than the other. This is not the case on the adjustable height, multisection stands like the ones I have now. I'm not familiar with the Anchor Liberty but might be worth a look at. I had to be told by the shop that it was reversible as it wasn't that obvious at first.

Most speaker stands are reversable as Mark suggests.
That said if you don't want to spend $125 on a set, go to your yellow pages. There may be a guitar/drum/music type show near by that sells used gear. I just sold my speaker stands recently and the guy told me they resell the sets at about $70. So that' substantially cheaper than a brand new pair. Robert

Would this stand work? http://elderly.com/accessories/items/SS7730.htm
I bought my Crate Amp from them - very reputable company to deal with. |

I appreciate the help everybody. I went to Guitar Center today (with my Liberty) and was able to find a stand that fit for only 20 bucks! In case anybody else is curious, it is a 1" hole in the bottom of the Anchor Liberty.

Anchor Liberty has a smaller opening, and Anchor used to sell a plastic adapter (reducer) that fit my Ultimate stands and wedged inside the pipe at the top. This made it compatible with the opening on the Liberty. I haven't bought these adapters since mid 90's, but I would think they still sell it.

Didn't realize the Liberty had a smaller hole...I have the Anchor Explorer Pro and the speaker fits exactly on the stands I already had for my Peavey speakers.
