Having read the many wonderful posts Scott has made on this forum and his insightful articles at online-visions I decided to give some of his products a try. I am sick right now (I hate the flu!) so forgive me if I make a couple typos or anything like that.
Great Scott, It's Coin Magic! This second volume in his Great Scott, It's Magic! series contains some of the strongest and most developed coin routines I have ever seen! The spiral bound book starts off with a nice introduction by Aldo Colombini and then dives right into the magic. I wanted to go through and give my thoughts on each piece of magic, but I am a bit too tired to do so. Instead I will simply point out my current favorites. Matrix Four-Play: An excellent Matrix routine; if you like matrices at all I am sure you will love this one. It has a great opening ace trick to set up the cards and is very clean. Scott's coin and card arrangement is geometrically beautiful. The kicker at the end is sure to leave your audience screaming. Great Scott's Flurry: Scott's opening production is very creative, one of the best I have seen. The ending is just as strong and uses a jumbo coin in a very amusing way. Magic Western Union (Famous Invisible Flying Quarters): Wow, this a great handling for "Flying Eagles". Just as Larry Jennings said, I agree that this is the "best presentation for that @*#! routine I've ever seen!" Not only are the mechanics of this routine sound, the patter is excelent as well. There are two sets of patter provided, one for adults and one for kids. Both are strong and funny, I love the sound effects bit in the Magic Western Union patter(the adult version). None of the Above: A nice relatively simple coin vanish based around a gambling bet. The patter is great and the guessing game the magician plays with the gambler is quite comical. In-Tin-Tin: Wow, this coin to nested box routine based on John Bannon's "One is the Onliest" is sure to leave them amazed. The magicians actions are well justified and it all appears fair but oh so impossible. Scott's use of misdirection is beautiful. Silverdusted: This one won Scott a competition, and I can see why. This routine has great patter, is clean and is one hell of a Magician fooler (in addition to laypeople). Basic premise, take coin concentrate and turn it into a coin, then make this "special" coin do all sorts of crazyness like vanishing, penetrating the table, and even changing into a foreign coin. Peanut Butter and Jelly This is Scott's sponge ball routine. At its price it is an excelent buy. You get three sponge balls, a gimmick that sells for 10 dollars at most dealers by itself, a purse frame and a great set of instructions full of pictures. This routine is funny, fun (for the magician and audience) and clean. The balls appear, dissapear, move from hand to hand and even do some fun things in a spectators hands. Scott has a real sense of humor and his jokes are great. This is a great commerical effect that I am sure I will perform often. I plan on purchasing the rest of Scott's stuff as soon as I can. If it is even half as strong as these products then it would still be more than worth it. |

There's some great material in the "Great Scott, It's _____ Magic! series. These were Scott's early books, and he recently told me that there's a wealth of great material in those early books, and I agree. Although these early books aren't as well known as his newer books, the routines are just as strong.
In "Great Scott, It's Coin Magic!" check out "Copper Four a Change," a matrix that ends with all four silver coins suddenly turning into copper coins. "Glass Action Suit" is a killer coins to glass routine. I've seen him do this at the restaurant and kick butt with it. |

Thanks for the nice review! I definitely feel there is some very strong stuff in this trilogy--some of my favorite routines that I use all the time, in fact.
The production values of these books weren't great (which is why they're so cheap!), although I have added some photos to the More book (volume three) already. However, over the next month or so, I will be shooting and adding photos (MANY of them--a few hundred per book) and re-formatting them to match my last three. So, if you want them cheap, get them now, but if you want better quality, wait a bit.
