I took the ten-dollar plunge for stuck. I've only been working with it for about an hour, so here's some first impressions.
The trick: Maybe I'm jaded, but I don't believe anyone but a child would get into the phase where the coin is being pulled out of the hand. It kinda reminds me of "Got your nose, got your nose!" I mean no offense, just being honest. In the graphic times in which we find ourselves, you would literally have to see the coin protruding from the skin. Maybe a little blood would help. But so what? I purchased the trick knowing that I had absolutely no interest in that phase anyway. I wanted the vanish and the reappear. And it is a pretty good vanish, and several methods for a re-appear. Beware, the vanish is knacky--but I can see getting the hang of it. I've already got it to work about three quarters of the time. A hint: be gentle and frugal with the handling. My favorite re-appear is the sudden one. Again, slightly knacky, but nothing too crazy. Again, I got it working after about ten tries. The video: Fairly professional, no frills. It's no CoinOne, but it's not Kevin Parker, either. Just the camera and Greg Rostami, and a couple of very nice graphics on the chapter breaks; music way in the background, as if someone left a clock radio on in the bedroom downstairs. The moves are very clearly shown and Greg moves his hands and body around when necessary. The teaching: The teaching is very thorough. Greg is clearly enthusiastic--he evidently believes strongly in the pulling-the-coin-from-the-hand phase even if I don't. He is also quite upbeat, animated, and seems like one very happy dude. If you are the depressed type, you will probably want to strangle him. There is one method for the vanish, and several variations on the rest of the effect. Everything is covered in the perfect amount of detail. The angles are okay--maybe one hundred, one-twenty degrees to the front. All in all, I find it a fun coin vanish. The method is actually exactly what I thought it was (after thinking about the trick for a bit). But it would have taken me a long time to come up with the clever handling. It's too early to tell how much work I will put into this and if I will ever feel confident doing this in public--don't be fooled, you will need to practice a bit to gain trust in your handling. But, hey, that's the way of a lot of good magic. I believe this will appeal to folks (like myself) who enjoyed Revolution--though Stuck is slightly more difficult. Download was smooth and took about 5 min. Priced perfectly at $10. |

Good, thorough review. While I don't own it, I too thought the reveal from the hand was a little obvious....but I may be underestimating the ignorance of the layman to the "insides" of magic.
