October/November Greetings, Amazing things are happening at KIDabra. Some of them are even Top Secret for now! Read ahead about all the doings and then we want to ask a favor. A Mission actually! We need only about 70 more KIDabra International members to break the 500 mark and we'd like to do that by the end of the year. Please tell folks you know about us. Folks that you think should be a part of what we're doing. Please ask them to consider joining. Even better invite them! As Volume 2 Issue 1 of The KIdabra Journal mails over the next few days we shift into hyperdrive with exciting events, benefits and happenings for KIDabra International Members, so hold on tight. Great stuff ahead ! And as we grow as an association, the things we can accomplish together start to multiply exponentially! Wow! ************************************************************ KIDabra Conference 2007 News KIDabra 2007 Conference The 16th Year Pigeon Forge, TN Music Road Hotel Complex August 15 - 18, 2007 Announcing 3 Major Events! 1. The Live Library/Summer Reading Session Friday Night at KIDabra In 2007 The Live Session Series continues as we focus in on Library/Summer Reading routines for an entire evening. This topic is consistently one of our main areas of interest in the KIDshow world, and yet in reality little exists in print or on video. Don't miss an evening of the best in the library business sharing tips, tricks, and routines to make your shows super reader friendly! This is a KIDabra Highlight Event! 2. The Riz Live and All New! I've had the opportunity and privilege to see Dave Risley perform "live" countless times and he quite simply is one of the best in the business. Now, couple that with the fact he is also one of the best teachers and lecturers and you've got a true master! Recently, after conference this year he mentioned he'd like to perform his show "live" in front of children for us next year at KIDabra conference. "Great," I said and thought about it a bit. He has done this before over the years, however for next year, let's up the ante a bit. I counter offered with a challenge that Riz has accepted and we're both excited about. The challenge: Spend a year developing and presenting an entirely new show for daycare's and preschools and then present it for us next August! Come see the results from one of the best there is! The Riz! A KIDabra Feature Event! 3. The Game Tons of folks have requested a networking/getting to know each other event during conference, we have just the answer. In August, join us for The Game. Developed for FISM at The Hague as a KIDshow event a few years ago, it was a huge hit. I've since played it and it is amazing! You'll have fun, learn some stuff and make new friends. Details coming! The Live KIDabra Birthday Party Ideas Session 2 DVD Set Release Date: Late November 2006 Wow! It's almost ready and that's a good thing as pre-orders have been strong. We're currently projecting a finished set ready to ship later this month. Ryan Risley tells me the DVD's should play on computers worldwide, however European stand alone DVD players may not be compatible. Funny thing is, as I multitask I'm finding myself now watching educational DVD's on my computer as I do more mundane tasks like stuffing and sealing envelopes, etc. ************************************************************ 5. Rick Hubard's Free Kazoo lecture Notes Rick Hubbard was a big hit at the Friday Breakouts last August at KIDabra. He sent this note the other day: I had such great attendance at my workshop that I totally ran out of my booklets "Using Kazoos In Children's Entertainment." I have converted the booklet to PDF format and posted it on my website here: KAZOOS It is a free download. Our thanks to Ralph the Great! creator of the original KIDabra logo for whipping up a special version of the KI logo for members to use on their websites and promotional materials. (Note: The original KIDabra International logo is reserved for official use by headquarters and chartered KI Chapters with their Chapter designation) Watch for the member logo to be posted to the website kidabra.com shortly. 7. Free KI Member Websites Upgrade and Update Dennis Michael is doing massive upgrades, ready for launch this month to the Free Member Websites. This will be light years ahead of what we currently offer, Dennis tells me. Starting with the Single Killer Web Page and then coming soon the Multi Page site all free for KI members. I've seen the templates and they're really good! Stay tuned, details coming. 8. KIDabra Discussion Forum- Upgrade for KI Members Posting on the wonderful KIDabra discussion forum now becomes an important KI member benefit. All of the incredible content on the forum will be available to KI members! If you have friends who would like to learn all about KIDabra they may view select sections of the forum as guests, however posting will now be exclusively for our members. Thoughts and Prayers Charter KI member Aragorn (Bob Suhr) lost his wife Angie in September. They were both with us at the KIDabra 2005 conference. A note from Bob: It is with great sorrow that I report the passing of my wife Angie/Gleeka the Clown. We had no advance warning at all. From start to finish from knowing she was sick to being gone was 19 days. It still doesn't seem real. She had advanced colon cancer. The members of Kidabra Chapter 3 were great. Both Tommy Johns & Victoria Skye covered events for me. Our week at the 2005 Conference (our 1st) was a highlight for us. She always told folks about "That Magician in the Rabbit's Hat".
