Saturday night saw me perform my first suspended straitjacket since I fell a couple of years ago. I can't say I wasn't nervous about it, because I was! I don't think anyone knew just how nervous I was. I was asked to take part in a magic variety show, and they asked if I could do the suspended straitjacket. I knew I would have to eventually "get back on the horse". I did, and now I have this fear conquered!

Way to go Margarette! Getting back on the horse is difficult to do sometimes, but it sure feels good afterwards. Congratulations!

Margarette,

That's terrific! You've succeeded in escaping from your own fear, the most difficult restraint that can be put on anyone.

Yours,

Hay Margarette,

Congratulations girl! You did it! You are awesome. It was a brave and courageous thing you did to get back up there again. I'm proud of you.

Hay, you didn't do this upside down escape in that pretty full length gown that you wore at the EA convention, did you?

SHAZAM! way to go! I know that just about everything I do in escapes, is to prove to myself that I can...Great to see it worked out for you, and no more swearing (g)

Joe,
Actually, finding an outfit was a bit of a challenge. For the past couple of years, escape performances have been in evening gowns like the one at the convention. I also found out during test runs that I needed to carefully select a shirt to wear. Unfortunately, I couldn't run out and get a new top, so I had to work with what I had. End result was that the audience didn't get more of a show than anticipated.

Cliff,
No swearing during this escape! Only thing I really didn't want was that my older son was one of my spotters. They had no one else backstage to help, so he was it. I didn't want him as a spotter just in case something went wrong. He's already seen me fall once. I didn't want that again!

Sweet! Glad to see you back up there! I’m doubly glad that you didn’t traumatize your poor son! It has to be traumatic enough to see one’s mother hanging upside down in a straightjacket. Ah the tails he can tell at school (but who would believe him?)!

Great news and good show!

Definitely glad to hear everything went well. I never thought about the problems that gravity might pose to a female escape artist doing upside-down work.

Isn't that one kind of fall-out?

It was probably good for your son to be in that position, for the same reason it was good for you. Fears can so get in the way.

Good job!

Doc,
During the tech rehearsal, and I was actually going through the escape, I did ask one of my spotters if my shirt was coming off with the straitjacket. "NOT YET" was his response! The stage manager was thinking "wardrobe malfunction"! We did get the problem resolved.
