I was recently given a performance of "bar magic" at Illusions in Carmel, Indiana. Never did catch the magicians name, but he literally FLOORED me. He said that bar magic was a dying art. I would like to learn to keep this art alive. I'm learning the basics of magic. I've also ordered Peter Marucci's notes on bar magic (mailed him the order yesterday). Any other ideas/suggestions/opinions/etc.?
Thanks! ![]() |

The a-1 Scotty York videos are good. There are 3 of them.
You will get sound advice from someone who has done bar magic for a long time. Joe Stevens has a great tape on the subject. Randy Wakeman has several tapes adressing the subject. I am curious as to why the gentleman from Illusions sees bar magic as a "..dying art." Do you know what he based his statement on?

The magician from Illusions didn't really base his statement on anything other than the fact that bar magic is not performed as often as it used to be. Who knows, maybe it was just a statement used to fuel his act.
![]() Looking around on the internet made me realize that bar magic is not "dying" as much as he led me to believe. |
