I am trying to find a dove from silk fountain production that is self contained. I remember seeing one a while back at a magic convention. Do you know who makes this, or where I can find it? Maybe even instructions on how to make one or modify an existing silk foundain? I'm currently using a silk fountain and just doing a steal to produce the dove, but want to do this change. Please let me know if you can help me. Thank you in advance.

May I suggest that you get a regular silk fountain from Richard and produce the dove via invisible or a hand s**al with a pitch. Greg Frewin's sleeveless dove production would work well with this effect.

Any sugestions on how to lead into a silk fountain? Just picking the bundle up off of a table is not too flashy.

I do a silk fountain production with a dove at the end, but mine is a steal from somewhere else I personally would never wrap a dove up in mounds of silks, to me not a good idea especally if the fountain is going to sit for a long period of time. I treat my doves with respect and as Kregg said it could be devastating. I would think about it.

Christopher, one idea for leading into the fountain would be to have the bundle set as a body load. Waist high toward the back would be best to conceal the buldge. You could produce several larger silks turning to the side just a bit and as you produce the final one, you steal the load and go into the fountain. I have seen one magician do it similiar to this.

You could produce it from a large dove pan or square circle. That's a little more gutsy. I'm not impressed with most fountains as an effect. It always strikes me as just an eye catching item for the spectators. On the other hand, I use General Grants fountain and that's an entirely different matter. I don't know if you've ever seen his version but you actually produce 50 silks from his fountain and it's a real production as they fall to the floor or receptacle as they bubble forth. It can end with a dove production if you wish. The bundle isn't any larger than a normal fountain but the number of silks involved is amazing.

I am happily busy practising my fountain from Hughes Magic and I think if you could body load an ostrich you could produce it from under all that silk.

The fountain is beautiful eye candy - and it provides a little magical interlude from the more fast paced elements of a routine. I like to pick the pace up - and then slow it down - then up again. The fountain, especially with the right music is perfect for this - and it leads nicely into the jewellery I produce from it.

Mr Hughes' fountain is a work of art.

Do you know of any performance footage of General Grants fountain?
I have heard of it before, but never seen it and it sounds wonderful.
I have the fountain I want to use, but always enjoy watching good magic.

PlasticDestiny, you can call me Dave. I always say Mr Scribner was my father. Anyway, to my knowledge, the only footage of the General's fountain is on his own DVD. Basically, from the spectators point of view, you take several silks and hold them between your hands. Your hands are in the position they would be if you were going to clap. The thumb of one hand pointing toward your body and the other thumb pointing straight up. Of course the bundle of silks is held between them. You change the position of the hands making the straight up thumb point toward the body and the other move straight up. You do this over and over while rotating wrists. As you do this, the silks begin to bubble forth and eventually drift to the floor. As I mentioned, his fountain uses 50 silks but takes up no more room than any other fountain.

Some people say it looks messy with all those silks on the floor but if you use a receptacle as he does (an umbrella), they all fall into it. It just seems like there is a never ending "fountain" of silks being produced between the hands.

I have my fountain load in a top hat on top of the table. I do a self contained triple multiplying silks. After each silk is produced it goes on top of the hat. With the last one I do a blow away knot letting spectator tie the knot. This goes on hat picking up other silks and fountain.

The self contained dove fountain of Silks I had picked up from Tannen’s Magic shop about 10 years ago for $85 and till
this day I still use it in my children show as a comedy routine.
It is very easy to make if you know someone with a sewing machine.

P&A silks used to make one where you can actually load the fountain ahead of time and load the dove into it at the last minute, without the need to wrap all the silks around the bird. You may want to check their website or ask Peter if they still make that model.

Our model uses 12x 18" silks and is constructed so that you load the dove after you fold the fountain. This means you can fold the fountain at home for transporting and load the dove just before your show. The harness/fountain is completely self contained.

The dove is not buried in the mound of silks and is as safe and comfortable as it would be in any other dove harness or bag (perhaps more so).

We also include 2 18" black silks and 1 18" white silk that you produce (using your favourite method) and then use them to steal the fountain, like you would any other silk fountain, and it's ready to go.

I really like the Dazzling Magic Silk Fountain with the large tie-dyed silk then into the Dove finale. The quality is excellent as Brenda hand makes them all to order. I like this model as the dove can be loaded after all the silks have been folded as opposed to before where the bird does get buried under everything. I can't recommend this model enough and will soon be getting one myself after looking at it many times over the years at KIDabra.
