The hands move at different speeds on different watches. Yves goes over all this on the DVD, but basically, you can do the Time Machine effect with pretty much anyones watch, if this is the trick you are talking about.

Yves said above that it is not designed to do a "Perfect Time" effect which is a version of the Time Machine. Can you clarify.

BTW I don't think this is supposed to be a "Time Prediction" effect is it?

Yves said it is not designed for that, but it can do that if you want it to. It is technically what you want it to be for. You can use it to do most things you would want to. Yves uses a four phase effect as I have said, and none of which are part of a Time prediction effect, but as I said above, there is nothing stopping you using the gimmick to do a Time Prediction effect

There was another device released a few years ago which could alter time on a borrowed watch. The demo has shown me enough to know it is cleaner than the previous version I am familiar with (Futour). I have no idea what this one is.

Even if all you can do is move the hands of a borrowed watch without going anywhere near the stem, this is pure gold. That's enough to freak anyone!

Cheers,

I spoke to Yves earlier today, and Futour was one of the topics that came up. Yves first came up with this several years ago and showed it to Gaeton Bloom. Then I believe it was Bazar de Magia independently came up with Futour which I believe gave you no cotrol over when the time would stop, and was built into a card box. This is much better and more compact and a lot easier to use. If anyone buys this and doesn't like it, I will buy it off you!

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your update. As soon as I discovered Kronos, I ordered one. I am pleased that someone has further developed this idea as I have played around with Futour a lot and the only drawback of it is the size of the device. I built mine into a watch case and would do a routine where the spectators watch went into the case showing the correct time and came out reset to a different time. I have also developed other applications for Futour and have often thought it would be great if a smaller size one of these could be produced.

One application I used quite often is this:

Just after a card trick I would switch in the Futour box. I would then borrow a watch and call attention to the current time, checking the borrowed watch against my own. I am holding the card case in my left hand and the borrowed watch in my right. I say I also need to use my watch so I pass the specs watch to my left hand on top of the card case which allows Futour to do its work as I unbuckle my own watch (which I wear on my left wrist). I only allow the time to change a small amount (around 40 minutes or more is fine), less is better for the next part.

I ask the spec to hold both hands out I hand them their own watch (from my left hand which still holds the card case) to hold in their right hand. As I do this I catch a glimpse of the time their watch has arrived at. They close their right hand around their watch. At the same time as I do this I hold my own watch up on display (Perfect Time III) and ask them to confirm it is set to the correct time. As soon as they do this I activate PT III and reset the watch to the same time as I have just glimpsed on their watch. This does not take long as I only allowed their watch to change a small amount (3 hours at the most, 40 minutes is fine). If I need time delay I will simply patter about how important it is to keep you hands closed and not let me near the watches etc. I then hand my watch to them in their left hand and they close their hand around it also. As they do this I place the card case back in my pocket.

From the specs point of view: you have borrowed their watch and also removed yours. You have had the correct time clearly verified on both watches. You have them immediately given them to the spectator to hold, one in each hand without any suspicious actions or going anywhere near the watch pins. Yet now you are in the fantastic position of being able to apparently cause both watches to advance the same amount of time without touching them. Use Banaceks PK time presentation from here or whatever other reveal you prefer.

The beautiful part of the routine above was that the card case never even got noticed let alone questioned. In the original Futour instructions the routine revolved around a card trick (to justify the card case being used). I never liked this approach. I felt it was far better to try and make the effect simpler and go for a clean presentation of altering the time on a borrowed watch. This would be stronger than doing a card effect that supposedly 'linked in' with the watch changing time as this only drew attention to the card case and diluted the impact and simplicity of the desired effect. The effect above was my solution and believe me it played well and still would if I didn't decide to rebuild my Futour into a watch case.

Another variation I would sometimes do was instead of using PT III I would borrow a second watch. I would then pull out the pin show the hands moving as I turned them. I would then begin winding them and ask someone to say stop. Using Patrick Kuffs 'Watchism' from Mind Stunts V1 I would force the time I had glimpsed on the previous watch. I could then show the watch in the specs hand had changed to exactly the same time they had stopped me on for the other watch.

If Kronos allows this type of effect to be done without needing any other visible item in play then this is a huge improvement.

It's a long time since I have been as excited about a new release. I have a feeling once people understand the potential of this this principal, it is going to be a very successful & popular device.

Cheers,
Al

Al,

Thanks for sharing with us your ideas. This is a very interesting routine that you'll be able to do with kronos.

In onter word Kronos allow exactly this type of effect to be done without needing any other visible item in play...and you can perform in swimsuite.

Yves

PS : I really love your last idea, do you give me permission to perform it ?

OOPS!! Please ignore that last premature post...

Hi Yves,

Yes of course.

Would you like to write it up in the instructions (with credits given)?

Also, I am currently writing a book with my 'pet' routines that I have come up with over the last 15 years or so of performing. I am including some of my watch routines using in this and would love to mention Kronos if I have permission?

All the best, I look forward to Kronos being released officially!

Cheers,
Al

Al,

Thanks for your permission,
The instructions are on a mini DVD that is already full. But can I keep it aside and, use it for a new instruction or if there is enough material for a booklet ?

Sure you can mention Kronos on your book.

Kronos is already officially released, but due to production contraint(very time consuming to make things perfect) we decided first to work with few selected dealers named above.

Soon (when our pre-made stock will be ready) it will be distributed more widely.

Tom, I take it that means you have one. Is it possible to have another of your excellent reviews?

Many thanks indeed.
