The book I'm referring to is Rudy Coby's "How to Become a World Famous Magician (or just look like one)". I haven't read it, and doubt if I will even CONSIDER reading it, because of what I read today in somebody's old post:

A book I highly recommend is Rudy Coby's "How To Become A World Famous Magician (or just look like one)". Essentially, he states that all you need is 3-5 minutes of ORIGINAL material, and I wholeheartly agree.

3-5 minutes of original material? WTF? No wonder comics look down on magicians! Is there any sanity behind Mr. Coby's statement? From what I've seen, he is an excellent, original, and talented performer... I can't imagine him saying that a magician only needs 5 minutes of original material?

Help?!

To buy a prop is nothing.
To write a good routine is something.

I wouldn't buy his book on that premise alone as his act wasn't exactly ORIGINAL.

Really? That's news to me. Do you mean the specific effects & bits, or his onstage persona wasn't that original?
