Hello,
I've just started working on the Reformation from Guy Hollingworths book Drawing room deceptions. I'm not familair with the handling of another torn & restored card: torn by daniel garcia but I love the resoration of the first piece, so I Just ordered the dvd. I was wondering if this first restoration can be applied to the reformation? And if so can it be done with the face of the card facing the audience (as is not the case in Torn)? Another question: did Guy hollingworth only did the limited release of the video of reformation or did he put out a dvd on this effect some time ago as well? Thanks Simon |

His another video, Routines, has performance of this, but without explanation. The method is explained in the last chapter of his book Drawing Board Deceptions. As far as I know, all Guy's videos are in VHS tapes and not on DVD. |

I think you can apply the first restoration of Torn into Reformation. Just watch the angle and you will be fine.

Just to say, it is not in Drawing Board Deceptions (which doesn't exist!) It is in Drawing Room Deceptions.

Having done both, it seems to me that the only real difference between the first restorations is that in Hollingworths the peices are are placed end to end whereas in Garcia's they are placed side to side. The restoration is pretty much the exact same. It would be very easy to adjust the handling of Reformation to match that of Torn. As for doing it face out, I think it would require reworking the entire routine. It was designed so that the face is seen at various times throughout. Showing the face at the beginning woudl throw off the rest of the handling. Its not to say that it can't be done, you just have to ask yourself if you should.

Yes, with the right inginuity (sp?), it can be done, you just need to fiddle around with the tearing sequence a bit.
