Whats the best "glue/sticky stuff" to use for the catching ping pong ball on nose gag?
James More Info The Gag where you throw a ping pong ball up in the air and catch it on your nose. then take a bow, as it is still stuck there. James

You paint half the ball, and the tip of your nose with liquid rubber cement, let them dry and you are good to go. The ball will fall heavy side down, and stick to your nose. HAVE FUN Al Angello

Any office supply store will sell rubber cement. You'll probably find it in the school supplies section.
Have fun with that. It is a great sight gag that never fails to get a laugh! Mark. |

Juggle with the bounce/no bounce balls. Get a cascade going and bounce one on the floor every so often and keep it in the mix.
Then drop the no bounce ball and it will land with a "thud." This is a great time for that "what the...." look you've been working on! Mark. |

Old School Gags!
2 wooden and one rubber ball head hit, bounce ball in hanky, bowling ball juggler on the moon, knife cuts carrot, finger cuts carrot, carrot cuts carrot, animal ballon sword swallowing, (dear God I am about to write this!) Egg basket balance, middle cigar box attached to your belt, 9,12,15,18,etc.(insert any number really) juggling (attached together), boomerang hat throwing (wire), bottle on broom, and of course Table cloth pull! Bounce / No Bounce balls are just that. Two balls, one of which will bounce and the other will NOT bounce, thus the "thud" when you try to bounce it off the floor as in my earlier suggestion.
Here is a link for them. http://themagicwarehouse.com/cgi-bin/fin......ce+Balls Mark. |

On a different note...in looking at your website, I can't believe you are asking these questions!!!
It looks like we should be asking YOU these things. According to your website, you are... "a professionally trained circus artiste, physical comedian and World class juggler from the World renowned Flying Fruit Fly Circus." and the following... "He is also one of Australia's best technical Jugglers. He has performed all around the World, including for the Honourable Steve Bracks, John Landy and his wife in Melbourne, The Governor of Aichi, Japan, as part of Expo 2005, Mary Delahunty, Bob Carr, the Victorian Sports minister, and John Howard as well as many others including International celebrities and sports people." With all that experience and you're asking about rubber cement, bounce / no bounce balls and funny juggling? What gives? Mark. |

You don't necessarily have to use B/nb
you can just use 2 regular white lacrosse balls ($1) and one white juggling beanbag($5) (the good ones look seamless). They are larger than B/nband might last longer ( I use a beanbag in my bounce juggling routine with my silicone juggling balls , but I don't think I should ever say you need to buy a $50 juggling ball to anyone. So lacrosse balls will do fine) |

Hey Mark.
Websites all true, I have been professionally trained for 4 years at the http://www.fruitflycircus.com.au and am currently employed there now due to my skills as a juggler teaching Physical Comedy (in no way do I know all these gags etc) hence asking the question about some of these skills) and juggling to the kids there. I am also one of Australia's best technical jugglers. None of this is a lie, sometimes we all don't knwo everything, I am alowed to ask for help and ideas aren't I? that's the idea of these forums for discussion. ask me anything you like about physical comedy/ circus skills/ or juggling help and I will surely help you. I just didn't know the right putty for this ping pong ball trick, and liked the sound of this no bounce/bounce ball. James

Yep...you're welcome to ask anything you like!
Just find some rubber cement and you're all set for the ping pong ball on the nose gag. Also, as Larry mentioned, just find some kind of ball, similar to others you're using that will NOT bounce, and you're all set. Good luck. Mark. |

Visit you local video store or library and see if they have any Chaplin on tape...or Harold Lloyd....or Keaton or Mr. Bean. All are filled with great comedy gags. Some are dated but many can be applied in a modern way. If you are doing this gag alone you should consider introducing a prop. Good theater comes from conflict. This can be hard to render alone but having a prop that does not cooperate creates this tension.

You want chaplin and funny? try this its a "Factoid" from Steve right in the afternoon on radio two (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/wright/) not sure how reliable this is but here goes:-
Chaplin once entered a charly Chaplin look alinke competition. He lost!! My wife said "perhaps he was having a good haid ray!!!" |

On the bounce/no bounce balls -- they are pretty small. I think the largest set is 1 1/2" in diameter.
I think a bean bag would be clearly different from the other lacrosse balls and lose some of the surprise when it doesn't bounce. My suggestion: use plasticine (non-hardening modeling clay). It has heft to it, now comes in several bright colors (like red), and can be the same size as your other juggling balls. Oh, and it will not bounce, but it may deform (which can also be pretty funny). |
